Willie Nelson was arrested in Sierra Blanca, Texas on Friday for possession of six ounces of pot. As a result, the country music legend faces as many as two years behind bars.
If the Texas prosecutors do not reduce the charges, and the marijuana's weight is indeed six ounces, then he is dealing with felony and a potential minimum of 180 days in a county jail and a maximum of two years, with a $10,000 fine, explained former California-based prosecutor, Robin Sax.
**SNIP**
Nelson, 77, was arrested with one-and-a-half pounds of marijuana and three ounces of hallucinogenic mushrooms on his tour bus in 2006, and nine years before that, police in Waco, Texas spotted a joint in his cars ash tray, prompting another arrest.
Texas is more stringent than California so he could face time. One of the issues that the court and prosecutors will look at is his prior record and given the fact that he has several arrests, even recent ones, for pot related crimes," Sax said. "I would not be surprised if Texas decided to stick it to him."

You couldn’t be more wrong. I, and millions like me, find his voice and guitar very soothing and inspiring.
Is he a liberal and a dopesmoker? Yep.
Does he lack talent or worth? NO. The world is a better place because Willie Nelson is in it.
Willies new version of Mama Tried may be I turned 81 in prison doin life without parole
I suspect if Willie says guilty and demands jail...the county is really going to be aggravated about this. Willie will show with his guitar and just might write a song to make them foolish for their laws, their jail, or their local legend...the acceptance of New York sludge to dump (250 tons a week) on a local ranch). Just one song would hurt, but if he wrote a dozen songs while sitting in jail...it’d turn the whole county in the laughing stock of Texas.
60 years of dope will probably do that. He is an idiot if he cannot manage to smoke reefer without getting busted.
Your simply off base. You’re incorrect. Just as a songwriter alone, Willie is neither talentless nor is he a bum. And he’s still out on the road. God bless him!
“Free Willie!”
Lock him up and throw away the key!
Guy went through the Mother of all IRS audits. I mean, the picture of Uncle Sam being held up by the feet by IRS agents with cash falling out of the pockets totally describes the treatment Nelson got from the government.
As I recall some came to New Mexico with the support of King Bill.
Ironic, in that pRes_ _ent Obama probably has
more at 1600
[as do most of the Congress, and some past Presidents
and Supreme Court judges].
***Talentless,worthless bum.White trash personified.***
My brother-in-law sent me a critic’s report on a Willie Nelson Concert near him last year.
Willie was either stoned, drunk or senile when he came out to play and his performance was a disaster!
I feel so much safer knowing this dangerous terrorist will be behind bars.
In normal circumstances, Willie Nelson would be held up as an example of how drugs can destroy your life, but damn, he’s 77 years old and still touring the country! Not that I would advocate his lifestyle but it doesn’t seem to be doing him any harm.
If he is known for no other song, this one is enough. The number Jukebox song of all time.

Texas ought to just quietly dismiss the case. It’s more embarrassing for Texas than it is for Willie Nelson.
Yes, the Big Bill put them up and provided free state police security for them too! Birds of a feather.
“The world is a better place because Willie Nelson is in it.”
I often wonder if these folks that can not separate someone’s music or other talent from their politics would allow a doctor to save their lives if that doctor was a democrat.
How many times must you get arrested for smoking dope to learn how much you can carry for personal use without getting charged with a felony?
Lock him up . He has skated one time too many.
and be married to the man with the most dope...
