Prosecution will have serious problems with this case.

The bus undoubtedly belonged to a tour operator or a corporation, not Willie personally.

Can they prove pot was in Willie's personal belongings. For initial stories, that has not been claimed or substantiated.

Even if in his personal belongings, can they prove others did not have access to it.

One good West Texas redneck on the jury and Willie walks.

All sorts of PC, color of law and local authority problems. Believe cop was Border Patrol, Nelson is not charged with importation, and possession is usually a State, not Federal issue.

Local prosecutor would do well to settle for a fine.

Willie Nelson is a liberal dopehead and no doubt guilty of felony pot possession, but Governor Perry should still just pardon him and send him on the road again, long as he ain’t drivin’. Willie will not be rehabilitated no matter what they do to him. The Border Patrol should be patrolling the border and catching illegal aliens and drug smugglers, not arresting the redneck dopehead country singers cruising in the hippy dippy bus down the interstate to the next gig. What did the Border Patrol expect to find when they searched Willie Nelson’s bus on I-10? Of course he has dope in there. And his music is good. Certainly Willie is more deserving of a pardon than the thief Marc Rich pardoned by Clinton, not to mention half-brother Roger Clinton, pardoned of cocaine charges.

It'd help out the local budget a lot more than lock up costs would.

Ol' Willie Boy told the authorities that it was his.
