Senate action on legislation revamping the nation's food safety laws will be delayed until Tuesday morning.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced Monday afternoon that two amendments (Coburn earmark ban, Coburn substitute that pays for food safety --- neither of which are expected to get the 67 votes needed for passage) and final passage of the food safety legislation will start at 9:00 am Tuesday.

The final bill is expected to pass. The House still must vote on the bill as well but is expected to pass without much difficulty

Well, I guess it’s not that big of a deal since I didn’t hear any conservative radio guys say anything about it. They’re probably asleep at the wheel, just like the Senate Republicans who voting YES on yet another big govt. takeover.

I’m quite aware of the situation. The rinos who have already been primaried and are part of this lame duck session will no doubt have vengence on their mind and just to be spiteful they will vote against what is good for the Nation and liberty loving people.

I believe cloture will not be needed by unanimous consent.
I may be misreading this and the consent agreement will be voted on tomorrow, I’ll check further.

and that after reading the pay-go
statement with respect to the bill, the Senate proceed to passage of the
bill and the cloture motion with respect to the bill be withdrawn.
Ordered further, That the mandatory quorums required under Rule XXII

I’ve always wondered what the founding fathers would have done if they would have had the technology we have today.

Can you think of a federal court that has recognized the Congress’ limitations in this area for the last hundred years?

We are all distracted by the Wikileaks and the Senate is moving full speed ahead with their Lame Duck and RINO session. This looks like it is getting bad, and pretty soon the backlash from conservatives is going to kick in.

By the way, not only is it arbitrary, it’s discriminatory. 275 miles is a whole lot different thing in the eastern states than it is in the west.

The cloture vote last week was on considering the bill, not voting on it. Normally there would be another cloture vote.

However they passed a unanimous consent agreement last Thursday to forego the cloture vote.
Note: This was a UNANIMOUS vote- NO ONE OBJECTED. Not a one.

Every single Senator agreed to put the bill to a vote after consideration.

Tell them you are keeping a log book on the bills and their votes, so you will know how to vote in 2012.

This bill needs to die, and we need to forever remember all who support this insanity.

This is an obvious statement, but it nonetheless does not go without saying:

When you control the people’s food, you control the people.

Let me remind everyone reading this: this is not being pushed through because of any demand from regular folks anywhere in this country. It is being pushed through by moneyed interests who are looking for control over the food supply.

This is all about money, power, and control.

Well then, if they have given up their right to vote for cloture, then we can thank both parties for this monstrosity.
