Irvine consultant Joe Vranich, who has been compiling a list of companies leaving California because of the states anti-business environment, is now up to 144 companies that have departed in 2010, including 34 in Orange County.
In addition, he lists 51 companies (8 from Orange County) that left in 2009. That three-fold increase, Vranich says, is the tip of the iceberg that is Californias financial woes.
Quite clearly, the exodus of businesses out of California continues. It makes sense for companies to reduce their California footprint considering the ample supply of attractive, lower-cost alternative locations. Unless California reduces its hostility toward business, we will see more commercial enterprises seeking friendlier locations in which to relocate entirely or at least place facilities there that used to be located here.

That’s just the way these companies are...they keep trying to make...dare I say it?...profits!
And to think that Orange County used to be very Conservative. Even the notorious Los Angeles Times was a mildly to-the-right newspaper at one time. Of course, I'm referring to the California I recall from the 50's and 60's.
That version of California exists only in small pockets (inland from the coastal regions) nowadays I suppose.
Just be sure that when they leave California, they also leave “liberalism” and collusive mentality behind them.
Check out these entities! They could be “contaminated” with liberal ideas.
“Leaving Cal. list grows to 144 firms”
What a bias the media has against small business! That number is MUCH larger than 144. Count all the small businesses that have left with their owners, and all the small businesses that WOULD HAVE BEEN large in the future.
How many future Amazons have left California, still in someone’s garage?
Or how many Dells have left, still in some kid’s dorm room?
Or how many Apples? The list goes on and on.
Not all companies can we now see!
Now calculate the cost of high regulations.
So you want to do business in California?

I guess Californians dont need jobs. God bless them.
It’s not just Californians. NAFTA saw thousnds of manufacturing jobs leave the US, and our politicians said it was good for America!
My friend Chuck Buck, owner of Busk Knives moved his production to Idaho years ago and the company is doing fine. He had that option, I don't. So the inevitable is bound to happen; I'm just putting it off as long as I can.
That number is MUCH larger than 144.
I believe you're right. I heard Rick Perry say that in the first 9 months of this year alone, he recruited 193 firms, and that's only the firms that moved to Texas.
And this doesnt include national companies that still maintain a presence in California, but have moved many of their support employees to other states. Some smaller technology companies have done the same.
My company provides a service in California but we now have 25% the number of employees we had four years ago. We have no plans in the foreseeable future to hire again, assuming were even able to maintain a profitable business to retain the remaining employees.
The company I worked for planned to build an asphalt terminal in Stockton on city (formerly military) property.
By the time the state air board, the county board, the neighborhood board and the Coast Guard got done with us, we built the thing in Reno.
Exactly. Washington State, Oregon and Colorado are already flaming blue states because the same failed-state liberals from California moved there and cheerfully voted for the same politicians who support the same policies.
I really don’t care.
An overwhelming majority of California voters have for decades voted for Democrats and liberals (Gov. Moon Beam).
Finally, reality will hit when they have driven the economic engine out of the state with their bizarre anti-capitalist laws.
Oh not to worry. All those hard working illegal aliens will generate plenty of taxes support the state budget.
Yep - Liberalism and its entitlement mentality has nearly destroyed Washington State. Not sure if these people will ever awake from their “give me what is mine” mentality.
Then there’s this....
It’s working. The enviros want no people. The goal is being achieved.
