These Are The Rules of My Administration - Rufus T. Obama
Duck Soup Marx Brothers Movie | 1933 | Kalmar and Ruby

Posted on 11/24/2010 9:19:37 PM PST by hometoroost

I have long been a fan of the Marx Brothers and have found Duck Soup a particular favorite. I enjoy it for the humor but it is viewed by many as biting political satire. Tonight in watching for the first time since Obama took office I found Barack H. Obama's philosophy in Rufus T. Firefly's first song.

These are the laws of my administration
No one's allowed to smoke (he's holding a cigar)
Or tell a dirty joke (fakes whispering to a lady)
And whistling is forbidden... (he whistles)
If chewing gum is chewed (he pretends to chew gum)
The chewer is pursued.
And in the hoosegow hidden...

If any form of pleasure is exhibited
Report to me and it will be prohibited.
I'll put my foot down, so shall it be.
This is the land of the free.
The last man nearly ruined this place
He didn't know what to do with it
If you think this country's bad off now
Just wait 'til I get through with it
The country's taxes must be fixed
And I know what to do with it
If you think you're paying too much now
Just wait 'til I get through with it...

I will not stand for anything that's crooked or unfair
I'm strictly on the up and up
So everyone beware
If anyone's caught taking graft
And I don't get my share
We stand 'em up against the wall
And pop goes the weasel.

If any man should come between her husband and his bride
We find out which one she prefers
By letting her decide
If she prefers the other man
The husband steps outside
We stand 'em up against the wall
And pop goes the weasel.

There are many differences between Obama and Rufus T. Firefly of course. The most important is that Obama isn't the least bit funny.

There are still black lib politicians named Rufus (for real): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._Seth_Williams

Don’t be fooled by the “R.”. It stands for Rufus. His dad’s name was Rufus too.

Well, HE thinks his is, laughing at his own jokes about pardoning the turkey today.

2. A Christmas Carol - with Alastair Sim
3. It’s a Wonderful Life - with Jimmy Stewart
4. March of the Wooden Soldiers - with Laurel & Hardy
5. The Bells of St. Mary’s & Going My Way - with Bing Crosby
