Sarah Palin never claimed she could see Russia from her house that was Tina Fey but she went one better on Glenn Beck's radio show in discussing the tensions in the Korean Peninsula and saying: "We've got to stand with our North Korean allies".
A transcript of the radio show reads:
Interviewer: How would you handle a situation like the one that just developed in North Korea?
Palin: Well, North Korea, this is stemming from a greater problem, when we're all sitting around asking, 'Oh no, what are we going to do,' and we're not having a lot of faith that the White House is going to come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is that North Korea is going to do. So this speaks to a bigger picture that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy. But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies we're bound to by treaty....
Interviewer: South Korean.
Palin: Yes, and we're also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes.

And what would "qualifications" those be? Because she didn't serve, see combat, get wounded? Or would she perhaps be even more "qualified" as the mother of an enlisted soldier now serving, making deployment and ROE decisions all the more direct and personal?
She's "qualified" in my book as an Army officer.
“I’m telling you people Glen Beck set Sarah Up.”
It was very transparent to anyone paying attention.
His comment about supporting Christie was meant for her ears - no class whatsoever. I thought to myself, this is the way he treats her after she was so gracious to appear at his rally - and I’m sure she was a huge draw.
Anyway, Sarah laughed it all off, but Glenn did himself harm here for anyone who understands the irony of it all. He talks it up big regarding restoration of honor - well, his own words and actions don’t match up. He should try some soul searching because what he pulled was the opposite of restoration.
Then, if he wants any credibility with the honor talk, he needs to set things right with Sarah and come to her defense over this idiocy.
“There is little room for those mistakes, even for someone who was as respected as Ford...theres a lot less room for Sarah.”
Ford wasn’t dealing with 24x7 news cycles and a vulture press. We’re in a brave new world Bob. I’m not saying I enjoy these flubs, or that she’s got tons of room, but more than you’re alluding to, imho.
It’s up to us, in part, to defend her in this crazed, loony environment.
I think some of us aren’t relishing that task even though we KNOW that Sarah’s got our back as a Constitutional Pro-life Conservative THROUGH and THROUGH.
Disclaimer: She’s not even my first choice - Jim DeMint is.
“Disclaimer: Shes not even my first choice - Jim DeMint is.”
Then we’re EXACTLY on the same page. If not DeMint, or someone like Inhofe...then DEFINITELY Sarah. I could never stomach Romney or the other mice - and we don’t need to.
Maybe the AP feels that S Korea is our 57th state.
“Big difference between a slip of the tongue (north/south), and stating that Poland was a totally free country imo.”
Good point, plus the completely different, and more adversarial news orgs today.
‘And even when she corrected it, she said also South Korean...’
Vermont, you’re misquoting this article/Palin. Please read it again. She’s just continuing her thought from just before the interviewers interjection. She’s not saying ‘also’ in adding South to North allies, as you impute.
‘As is written in the book of FRed: “They shall deny him thrice, yet continue to trash his opposition.”’
LOL
Well, Youth has said he would vote for Sarah Palin. For now, I’ll take him at his word. But yes, let’s keep each other sharp, and always recall who our true enemies are (anti-Conservative, anti-Constitutional, often anti-Life, power hungry statists.)
“And Young GW’s calling Palin supporters “kool aid drinkers” and “dunces” is a vacuous, hate-filled rant and nothing more.”
Young what have you got to say for yourself? If you do indeed vote for Palin, won’t that make you a ‘kool aid drink’ing ‘dunce’? Wow, you seem really conflicted. What are you voting for? Which leads me back to my orginal observation.
It’s so much easier to tear down, than to build up. Are you really left with Pawlenty and Thune for POTUS?
IMHO, the primary season is for really taking a principled stand for Conservative/Tea Party-esque values.
Young, you talk about holding your nose in the primary, but I would hope that is the place where you can REALLY get behind someone you believe in - someone who’s Conservative, Constitutional, Pro-Life through and through - someone like DeMint or Palin.
Then, if need be, we’ll hold our nose for a Pawlenty or Thune or ‘someone else’ in the general - although I don’t think either of those two will get through, imho.
Young = Youth(gonewild)
Anyone can and does make them. If you don’t, you aren’t human. Even the conservative icon Ronald Reagan stumbled, and was vilified for them.
This is asinine. If people don’t think she is qualified, fine. Say so. But to indicate this is a disqualifying even is dumb, and anyone who uses this as a cudgel to make that point is a dimmer bulb than Tina Fey.
“if it were Reagan confusing the Koreas, no prob., he was old and EVERYONE had no doubt as to what he thought of the Communists....But if DeMint can keep things straight, hell be MUCH TOUGHER to beat than someone (anyone) who slips up once in a while.”
Bob, you admit it depends on the person. Palin might also have the strength of character and likeability that Reagan had. The big advantage Reagan had over Palin was being a favorite resident of California (favorite son of sorts). However Palin holds a star power that imitates the star power of Reagan, imho.
She’s also not a dunce by any means. No one runs and beats Murkowski for Governor in AK who’s a dunce. That’s just simply untrue.
I agree with you that Republicans, and espcially Conservatives are held to a different standard, but look at the mistakes and gaffes that obummer and biden have made, and tell me that Palin is even 1/2 as prone.
We could do much worse (like look where we are) than a defender of the US Constitution, true Conservative and staunch pro-life advocate like Sarah Palin.
All I have to say is - go Sarah and go Jim DeMint.
This is all going to shake out. For now, we’ve got to see through the fog of the socialist media’s activist assault on SP.
Would it help us if she were perfect? Sure, but she’s human, and we know that, and she’s worth defending against the socialist slime who would rather talk about a slip of the tongue over the actual substantive massive socialistcare cost over-runs and power grabs. And why not - who would be ever able to defend their socialist pals? Not even the socialist press is that clever.
I would just conclude - let’s recall who our true enemies are, and more importantly, who our true friends are.
Bet she has no slip of the tongue with regards to her religion.
:)
Sarah can speak well without a teleprompter, unlike the Obama, who usually stumbles when he has to speak to an interviewer?
I don't know what advice a coach would give Sarah about her pitch, but Sarah would be well-served to slow down her speech a little and pause for thought before making complicated or potentially sensitive comments.
“How hard is that? I knew about N and S Korea in first grade.”
Try being hounded by the socialist pressers for two years, recording your every breath, and we’ll see if you’re gaffe free at that point, and still smilin’ like Sarah Palin.
Two years and we’ll talk, K? Oh, you haven’t been elected Governor, or dog catcher, for that matter? I see...
Actually, this is a huge very telling error - Palin loves to talk and that’s when she gets into trouble.
I really like what she stands for but it would be best not to have her as President.
Just like they did with Obama and his dozens of miscues. Oh wait, Obama is a Democrat. Nevermind.
“I know which party that I will vote for in November (unless we run McCain again, or Huckabee).”
I assume you mean that at that point you’d vote 3rd Party? What AIP? Up and down the ticket? Hmmmm....
“I really like what she stands for but it would be best not to have her as President.”
Who do you support for POTUS?
