'Actress Ingrid Pitt, who became famous for playing voluptuous vampires in the Hammer Horror films of the 1970s, has died aged 73.
She collapsed in London last week while on her way to an event hosted by members of her fan club, her daughter said.
The Polish-born star began her career on the stage in East Germany before coming to Britain.
After playing secret agent Heidi in the classic war film Where Eagles Dare alongside Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood in 1968, she appeared in a series of horror films made by Hammer which quickly gained cult status.
Her starring credits included Countess Dracula, The Vampire Lovers and The House That Dripped Blood.'

RIP
Haven’t watch much of the Hammer stuff but I distinctly remember her from her walk-on role in ‘Where Eagles Dare.’
RIP There goes another part of my youth.
So sorry to hear this! I am a huge Hammer-head and always enjoyed Ms. Pitt in anything and everything I saw her in.
She was a true beauty.

Christopher Lee + Peter Cushing = awesomeness....
I agree. They were great friends. This is what Lee said after Cushing’s death:
“I don’t want to sound gloomy, but, at some point of your lives, every one of you will notice that you have in your life one person, one friend whom you love and care for very much. That person is so close to you that you are able to share some things only with him. For example, you can call that friend, and from the very first maniacal laugh or some other joke you will know who is at the other end of that line. We used to do that with him so often. And then when that person is gone, there will be nothing like that in your life ever again.”
Wow that’s too bad. I really liked her.
I was either twelve or thirteen when I went to the local theater to see WED, and it was the first action film where I actually noticed that a female character was really good-looking.

RIP.
Another from my favorite film of all time, Doctor Zhivago, is now gone. Ingrid was a special lady. RIP, precious.
RIP.
RIP.
A lovely woman, and certainly an interesting one. RIP.
RIP - I always liked her. Most assuredly when I was a teen in the ‘70’s.
You knew him(Elvis) well?
IP:We took karate classes together. He was a wonderful man. He was centered. There was something about him that made you feel secure.
What degree black belt are you?
IP: Im ranked higher in Europe. I took a different type of karate in Europe than in America. You cant always have a gun. You have to have something in your life that gives you security. That makes you safe.
