Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas have received death threats and "Dancing with the Stars" has measurably heightened security ... sources connected with the show tell TMZ.
We're told the threats began to come in last week, after Bristol and Mark made the finals. Execs on the show told Mark to stop tweeting because it was inciting people. Mark complied.
Sources connected with the show tell us extra security will be on hand tonight for the show. And, if Bristol and Mark head to New York, execs are talking about breaking format and not doing their interview outside in Times Square -- but rather in the studio, where it's more secure.
TMZ broke the story ... a staffer on the show opened a "fan letter" to Bristol on Friday and white powder fell out. Turns out it was talcum powder, but the FBI is investigating nonetheless.
As one source said, "Everyone is genuinely worried. This is a dance competition, and it's just gotten crazy."

Nice to see Sarah and Todd giving Bristol shooting lessons on Sunday night.
After what she’s been through this past week I’m pretty sure she’ll be working on getting her CCW asap. She’s probably already qualified due to the death threats.
someone on TMZ wrote-
If you think the death threats are odd - how about all of her moms uneducated, rabid fans voting for Bristol NOT because of her dancing skills (or lack thereof), but because of who her mom is.”
My reply to THAT is,
“How about all the INSANE DUMBA$$ES who voted for a certain man to be POTUS just because he is BLACK!”
“I hope FBI agents are keeping an eye on internet sites like TMZ.”
Now, you do know better than that, right??
After all, Obama’s DOJ has already noted that CONSERVATIVES present a clear and present danger, not armed and insane liberals.
You're asking for permission to respond in a sane manner to the scourge of liberalism?
Don't be ridiculous. Request denied.
I hope your stalker is locked up in a federal prison somewhere. You just gave him a way to track you to FR by posting his name.
I tell you, it takes a very sick mind to attach those expletives to someone like Sarah Palin, who is the polar opposite of those things.
Witness what the MSM has wrought...
Well, we’ve always had people like this in the woodwork. It’s only in the last decade or so that the left has tried to exploit them to the verge of violence (or beyond) for political advantage. And now they can network and feed off themselves too.
There have always been thugs out there that would do things based on anger and hatred or for a paycheck. Today we do see a weird sort of mental dynamic being tapped in addition.
It’s part of the reason why I’m reticent to trash people or tell them to take a hike if they are only addressing issues and not an unreasonable perception, even if off base.
People have differences of opinion, and those differences can be revealing, informative, and productive. Of course they can be disruptive too, if the exchange of ideas isn’t handled in a positive manner.
I don’t totally disagree with your thoughts on Liberalism, but I do think it has taken a real hit from the Obama fiasco. People are seeing what the down sides of Marxism/hatred of our way of life can bring to our nation. It isn’t pretty.
Obama has set back the Leftist’s pipe dream by over a decade, IF we handle 2012 properly. We must start undoing for the first time in 235 years.
He thought it didn’t matter much if the Democrats thumbed their noses at the U. S. public. So he pushed his health care fiasco, and the result was the world turned upside down as it relates to reapportionment.
That’s going to mean more Republicans in office. It’s a big deal, and one that will last for over ten years if we exploit it craftily.
Thanks for the response.
Thanks tcrlaf.

Absolutely agree. Obama (with the aid of Pelosi and Reid) has exposed liberalism for what it really is. Ugly. Anti-American. Mean. Totalitarian. Destructive.
The only good thing about this disaster is that the American people have, for the first time in our lives and before, risen up and shouted "NO!"
But it, as you say, has to be handled craftily (I like that term). We have to keep the pressure on.....full court press......we have to keep our newly elected representatives accountable to US, and we have to make sure that they undo this garbled, filthy mess that the leftist triumverate has left us with.
Another thought.......Obama has set back not only liberalism, but racial reconciliation at least 50 years. He has set back legitimate growth and equality decades because of his racist, anti-white, angry, demeaning attitudes.
He's made a mess with everything he's done. He is a complete and total FAILURE.
btw, anyone who lived through the 60's with eyes open saw the true face of liberalism, but they managed to hide it from most Americans for decades. No more. Thank you, Barack, for revealing the true face of Marxism.
You were on a roll and I agree with most of what you said, but I don't think this is true. We're not back in the 60s with regard to racial prejudice because of Obama.
You don't see Blacks in a more inferior way today. I know I don't. I see one half/Black somewhat more negative than I did two years ago, but he has actually done us a very big favor of sorts. I do find it sad that the first person assumed to be our 'Black' president was of this caliber. It's a real black eye to our African American community, a community that has plenty of people who could have been a very good president. I had hoped that a man like J. C. Watts would be the first.
Also, I truly believe that because this administration screams "RACIST!" at everyone who disagrees with their policies, they have aggravated and worsened racial reconciliation.
Of course the laws passed will not be undone, and legal equality will remain, but this 'President' has made a lot of people angry who were not angry before, and in that sense, I believe he has set race relations back decades.
I do, however, believe that strong conservatives like Allen West will help fix the mess that half-black Obama has made.
I don’t find those comment unreasonable, but I would vote for a Black man to be president. In 2012 I would if it were the right guy. You probably would too.
Painfully I look back on Steele. I supported him getting his current position. Then the guy used the “race” card. Good grief! He’s another flaming RINO.
Here’s to a real solid person who gets it, running in 2012. I don’t care if they’re green as long as they understand the policies best for our nation, support them, and push them through.
Amen! That's what all of us are looking for.
May God raise up the person whom He has chosen to lead us and protect him/her from the arrows of the Enemy.
Amen.
