L.A. contrail a missile launch? Retired general thinks so (op-ed)

Sliding silently under the mud, muck and fog of national politics, is a current event that makes Bill Clinton’s excursion into the world of elderly sex look tame in comparison. This time the nation’s national security is truly threatened in my opinion, and it involves not only a weak president with limited problem-solving ability, but leadership at the highest levels in the Pentagon as well. The American people would do well to demand a full investigation by an unbiased group, and let the chips fall where they may.

I am referring to the “missile shot” taken off the California coast recently, and the lame response by NORAD, the Pentagon and the White House itself.

(snip)

In my opinion, there is absolutely no doubt that what was captured on video off the coast of California was a missile launch, was clearly observed by NORAD, assessed by a four-star general within minutes, and passed to the president immediately. That is the way the system works, and heads fall if there is a failure. This is one of the most important tenets of national defense and its sole purpose of protecting the American people. Even the smallest failure in this system gets intense scrutiny at the highest level.

Now, the question that still must be answered is why NORAD’s muted response was simply that North America was not threatened, and later our government approved the lame excuse that the picture recorded was simply an aircraft leaving a contrail. This decision was made far above the four-star level, and because the system in place demands it, was made by the president himself.

From the government; well, that's spitting in the wind probably.

If the government possess them, there is the Freedom of Information Act. Wonder if there are any Civil possibilities ? Perhaps we need another data dump leaker. At any rate, Hollywood can make a video of any event imaginable nowadays. Took them awhile, but they finally starting getting the lighting correct in their computer generated graphics about 5-10 years ago. Took a long time for them to fool me :>

The question is which nation’s sub fired that SLBM right off the southern California coastline?

There is some buzz out on the conspiracy blogs that a story will soon break about the Chinese hacking one of our own subs missiles. For example - They did hijack all internet traffic for a little while and no one knows what they did to the traffic data. Also a report unverified that a large group of our ICBM missiles went off line. Do not think that theory will work, since someone pointed out that the exhaust was too dirty. Probably not one of ours, since our missiles burn cleaner. Of course as someone pointed out on this thread, we need to examine the entire video.

I wasn’t thinking of the tape but if they have it then, yes. What they really know was what I had in mind. Also explain the ridiculous decisions to say contradictory things like “we don’t know what it is but it isn’t a threat” then try to sell the plane theory without any supporting data. Does anyone believe that they don’t track every airborne vehicle and keep an archived database of it?

consistent symmetric turns in the contrail

Thank you for saying this. The spiraling was the first thing I noticed

Red China is a likely suspect, considering Obama was in Asia at the time.

North Korean?

Chinese.  Obama was in China at the time.  Glenn Beck said on his radio show last week that he talked to several members of the military who know about these kinds of missiles who say it was probably a two-stage missile.

I also believe the so-called "computer glitch" that disabled 50 missile sites in Wyoming a few weeks ago was the work of Chinese hackers.

Rank em like this.

#1 - China

#2 - Spooky Dude

#3 - Accidental US Launch

Assuming Spooky Dude got some help. He did try to warn Glenn Beck. A EMP over the Western US would have stopped that story. And he has friends in high places :>

He's wrong on the who and the why. Not chinese, Iranian. And it was supposed to be a hit, the one that Obama had announced the US could absorb. It would neatly have voided any election results and ushered in martial law, and Obama had it all laid down when he went off with a whole administration-in-exile plus a small navy to back him up.

Too bad Iranian tech is such crap :).

Airplane. Contrail. Grew up on the beach in So. Cal. Seen similar before.

That's not an exciting story for weeping talk show hosts and blog pimps, but that's what it was. Sorry no MSM/government conspiracy involving thousands. No Chi Com, Iranian (LOL), renegade Russian, OBL, Mexican, or Tahitian SLBM. Just a plane.

It's known as a "wingtip vortex," and it's the reason why landing intervals are set the way they are at major airports. From a large jet, they're strong enough to flip a small aircraft.

Here's another striking photo of wingtip vortices.

Of COURSE it was a missile launch. Anyone who knows anything about these matters can see the consistent symmetric turns in the contrail that scream “spin stabilized missile.” A plane simply cannot make those. Amazed that so few can see/understand this...

I agree - and share your frustration. When I kept seeing (over and over again) mindless reporters telling us it was an "aircraft contrail" I wanted to cry/scream.

Then, we have the "man on the street." Ever see Jay Leno's "Man on the Street" interviews?

Well, let's just say that IQ statistics are not theory.

It's known as a "wingtip vortex,"

Airplanes have two wingtips, and in level flight two equal size vortexes rotating in opposite directions.

So, bitty - you’re a beachbum and uniquely qualified more than a NORAD general?

Why don’t you just sit and spin? It may lead you to something you actually qualify thinking about, like your colon ;).

The above is from December 31, 2009. It's an airplane contrail.

These are photos of two actual launches of a missile, a THAAD interceptor, at White Sands Missile Range. The spiral is a result of a maneuver of the missile to burn off excess fuel so that its maximum range is limited to the boundaries of White Sands. Note in the second image the exhaust plume is so bright that it illuminates the clouds brightly enough as it passes through to make a pronounced impression on the time-lapse photo.

If the LA contrail had been from a missile, millions of people from across the region would have had their eyes snagged by a white-hot blowtorch of a rocket plume, and this is only one of the various holes in the missile theory.

Here's a video of an actual Vandenburg AFB missile launch. Note the difference from the LA "launch."
