I agree - and share your frustration. When I kept seeing (over and over again) mindless reporters telling us it was an "aircraft contrail" I wanted to cry/scream.
Then, we have the "man on the street." Ever see Jay Leno's "Man on the Street" interviews?
Well, let's just say that IQ statistics are not theory.
The above is from December 31, 2009. It's an airplane contrail.
These are photos of two actual launches of a missile, a THAAD interceptor, at White Sands Missile Range. The spiral is a result of a maneuver of the missile to burn off excess fuel so that its maximum range is limited to the boundaries of White Sands. Note in the second image the exhaust plume is so bright that it illuminates the clouds brightly enough as it passes through to make a pronounced impression on the time-lapse photo.
If the LA contrail had been from a missile, millions of people from across the region would have had their eyes snagged by a white-hot blowtorch of a rocket plume, and this is only one of the various holes in the missile theory.
Here's a video of an actual Vandenburg AFB missile launch. Note the difference from the LA "launch."
And all this time I thought you were familiar with airplanes.
Your screenname threw me off.
Oh come on, SP! Presumably, you’re a pilot, right? Well then, don’t you recognize a UPS plane when you see it? /s
