Sliding silently under the mud, muck and fog of national politics, is a current event that makes Bill Clintons excursion into the world of elderly sex look tame in comparison. This time the nations national security is truly threatened in my opinion, and it involves not only a weak president with limited problem-solving ability, but leadership at the highest levels in the Pentagon as well. The American people would do well to demand a full investigation by an unbiased group, and let the chips fall where they may.
I am referring to the missile shot taken off the California coast recently, and the lame response by NORAD, the Pentagon and the White House itself.
(snip)
In my opinion, there is absolutely no doubt that what was captured on video off the coast of California was a missile launch, was clearly observed by NORAD, assessed by a four-star general within minutes, and passed to the president immediately. That is the way the system works, and heads fall if there is a failure. This is one of the most important tenets of national defense and its sole purpose of protecting the American people. Even the smallest failure in this system gets intense scrutiny at the highest level.
Now, the question that still must be answered is why NORADs muted response was simply that North America was not threatened, and later our government approved the lame excuse that the picture recorded was simply an aircraft leaving a contrail. This decision was made far above the four-star level, and because the system in place demands it, was made by the president himself.

Would not be related to the claimed huge missile launch, though. Those would be small surface to surface exercises.
Can you post a picture, or link to a picture of this several hundred foot long flame?
The video was shot from a moving helicopter. Probably not gonna be a continuous recording. Gonna be chopped up quite a bit.
If you believe the contrail started at ground level instead of the horizon, then you are indeed stuck...
Screw em, we need to take this country back if its not too late, out of debt and lower the budget to 1950 levels, congress meets in a homeless shelter, defund the friggin beast..sell off federal parks, whole departments closed, bankrupt the federal government before asking the people to pay one more dime, make income, estate, capital gains taxes illegal..they have to go..
Missile Launch

And all this time I thought you were familiar with airplanes.
Your screenname threw me off.
I’ve seen enough comments from old time Freepers I respect and also decent experts on both sides of this debate that I *still* don’t know if I’m seeing it wrong. Even as I stare at it more.
I was pretty sure it was a missile. My bet was a low tech islamonut piece of garbage fired from a shipping container and intended to land somewhere - anywhere - in the US, but that went the wrong way.
Now? No idea.
It is also possible the Kremlin brought down the Polish President's jet with a form of EMP.
Below is a graft of cascading EMP weaponry effects:
Well, it was reported that the guy stayed on the object for around ten minutes. So surely there would be at least some shots of the lingering smoke plume? Why would he stop filming as the object was still spewing smoke?
“Gonna be chopped up quite a bit.”
I can see editing for a news report. But editing from only a little bit of what was filmed? With no shots of the object after the boost stages? Why release a video and call it “raw” when it was edited?
Freegards
Here they are:
And that is why so many believe it's a missile.
It's known as an optical illusion.
A high altitude plane, coming from beyond the horizon will appear to be going more or less vertical.
The Sun, or Moon, when rising over the ocean horizon,do the same thing.
TAKE A LOOK at the picture you posted, and first tell yourself the object is going away from you. Then look at it and tell yourself the object is coming towards you.
“I just scratched my head and laughed. Funny stuff. “
It doesn’t have to make sense. That’s the part that you have to accept before you can cross over from “Why don’t these people get it?” into, as you call it “Funny stuff”.
Once you’re there, it can be pretty amusing.
I have to continually struggle to remind myself.

“Missile launch.”
No...no, no no.
The first is a Lear Jet taking off from just behind the trees and engaging his autopilot. You can see the course correction right there at the beginning of the arc.
The second is a Pitt-special aerobatic bi-plane with smoke generator. Notice that they conveniently snap a picture right before the hammer-head stall maneuver to make it deliberately appear to be a missile.
It’s all a matter of perspective.
