Joe Scarborough has a decidedly cynical take on Sarah Palin's public musings about the possibility of a 2012 presidential run. The Morning Joe host asserts that Palin knows she can't win and won't run.
According to Scarborough, Palin is in it for the money, and is engaging in open speculation about a run for the mercenary purpose of keeping her brand alive.
Joe offered his jaded view on today's Morning Joe after the show aired a clip of Palin telling Barbara Walters that she believed she could defeat Pres. Obama.

My first thought on this was to laugh out LOUD!!!
Yeah, I’m sure that Sarah and Todd don’t have enough money, so they feel it’s worth sacrificing their EVERY privacy and putting their family through all this media grief - just for some more money...
Uh..huh... Gotcha... Meathead...
I agree with Joe. I’ve thought Sarah Palin was riding the money train ever since she quit the governor’s office. They say she’s made like $12 million since BHO got elected. She may be dumb, but she’s not stupid. Like she says, she’s a mama bear. She’s taking care of her den. Between 2008 and 2012 she’ll set her family up for life. After that election (and when her looks begin to fade), her days of maximum earning potential will be over. She’s got two more years to pad that retirement fund. I don’t fault her a bit.
I’ve been watching the DVR version of MJ and cannot believe the amount of time given to Sarah, much to Mika’s dismay.
I think it’s funny that Palin has the MJ set completely obsessed with her.
I’ve yet to see ANY mention of the terrorists who was found not guilty of 280 charges with only one guilty verdict on one considerably lesser charge.
No wonder Fox and Friends double them on ratings every morning from 6-9. The MJ show is really a ‘joke’ of a supposedly ‘news’ show.
Interesting. Wasn't the take by FReepers just after she resigned that she was leaving office to earn money to pay her legal bills. Also, the consensus was "If she's doing it for the money, good for her. She deserves it."
So what makes you think they will have an easier time getting elected than Sarah Palin. Neither one has any name recognition. And how about that Christie stealing money from the Gov’t. I know it's a lie but don't expect anyone the media to be any gentler on them than they are on Palin.
I think that old saying if you're catching alot of flack applies here.
And Scarborough isn't on our side anymore. He's gone over to the MSM side.
Just so. Palin in 2012 would be O'Donnell in 2010 writ large; an unmitigated disaster with long term negative consequences for every American, not to mention the end of the Tea Party's influence on American politics. This is serious business folks, we aren't electing the senior class homecoming queen.
I’d like to remind everyone that before Ronald Reagan was nominated to run against Jimmy Carter, the Democrats were praying the Republicans would nominate him as that would assure a Carter victory. De ja vu?
Sarah Palin would not be my first choice for President, but I don’t know who would be at this point. Unfortunately for all the other contenders, Sarah is the only one who talks common sense. Common sense solves 95% of the world’s problems, which is why having common sense is normally so important, and a selective trait that has evolved over the eons. Unless someone even better starts talking common sense Sarah is going to win. She will even have my vote because of this.
As a "truthguy" you are seriously misinformed.
The whole political system is BASED on individuals making a difference. Each individual decides to take action, joins with others of like minds, and changes the political landscape of the entire country. If you don't believe this then you haven't been paying attention to the rapid rise and tremendous effect of all those independent, leaderless Tea Party individuals (like me, like a lot of FReepers and others around the country.)
Your consistent anti-Sarah trolling is getting very boring and transparent. And now you're attacking others trying to get them to be discouraged and not even try.
Knock it off.
Epic Fail.
The EPIC FAILURE is sitting int The White House. Sarah Palin has the possibility of being the next Ronald Reagan after a Jimmy Carter. I you can't see that you better check your glasses.
She won’t run.
She’s cashing in.
If she does run she won’t get the GOP nomination. Her support will collapse during the primaries and the party leadership hates her.
The GOP leaders that say they like her hate her. She’s not one of them.
The Neocons like her because they think they can control her foreign policy. They believe she’s a “useful Idiot”. They are really followers of Trotsky anyway. But even they are a little scared of her. She may not be so controllable.
She probably knows all this but she may be delusional. Fame does that to you.
Palin is no Reagan... let’s be real here
Yeah, OK, sure...nice Lib talking point
Sometimes I start to reply to the people here who try and pretend Palin’s influence and stature isn’t growing everyday. Then I just get tired. She’s going all the way folks, if you don’t agree fine, vote for one of the guys whose ass she’s gong to kick, including Obama.
“Palin lost me the minute she broke her oath of office and abandoned the people of Alaska to seek fame and fortune in the lower 48.
Epic Fail.”
Broke oath of office? That’s a serious charge. Can you support that with something other than the Daily KOS? I’m betting that her actions in Alaska were exactly in accord with the Alaska Constitution. Do you know otherwise? Let’s see the proof.
I am not comparing her to Reagan. I was just reminding everyone that politics isn’t always predictable as the Dems.found out when Carter lost. Palin can be a formidable candidate for the nomination. She has done a lot of campaigning for candidates in those first 3 states of Iowa, NH and SC. If you can win those, the momemntum builds especially if you have a big field of candidates to carve up the anti-Palin votes. If she is able to win the nomination, all bets are off and the State of the economy and feelings about Obama may dictate the result.
Surely you are not comparing Ronald Reagan to Sarah Palin? Before running for president the former had been head of the SAG for years, served two terms as chief executive of the Nation's most populous state and spent about ten years seasoning his persuasive speaking skills on the political circuit and on radio programs. He was thoroughly versed in every important detail of the domestic and foreign policy disputes of the day. He had challenged a sitting president in a primary campaign battle and nearly overturned the party establishment in 1976.
Palin possesses none of these attributes and her experience pales in comparison. We owe President Reagan more respect than this.
The whore calls someone else a whore.
