Let Obama win one...for now
email (Hermanator PAC) ^ | November 14, 2010 | Herman Cain

Posted on 11/15/2010 6:19:26 AM PST by justsaynomore

President Obama’s defeats did not just start with the 2010 midterm election results. They started in December 2008, when President-elect Obama said “deficits don’t matter”. Well, he discovered that deficits do matter, because the American people were paying attention. They overwhelmingly rejected the runaway spending of this administration and this Democrat-controlled Congress.

President Obama suffered another loss when the nearly $1 trillion stimulus spending bill did not stimulate anything but more government jobs, while the unemployment rate went up and stayed up. The American people knew we could not spend our way to prosperity, but the president ignored that fact.

President Obama also discovered reluctantly that the American people do not like unpopular legislation shoved down their throats. Many of the members of Congress who walked the plank for Obama to pass health care deform legislation were sent into early retirement, which resulted in Republican control of the House of Representatives.

Now the big debate going into the lame duck session of Congress with spilt control of Congress is whether the existing tax rates will be extended for all, extended for no one, or extended for only those making less than $250,000 per year per couple. The latter is the position of the president.

If he prevails and the rates are set for a limited period of time, the uncertainty for private sector businesses will only be extended for that same period of time. Tax rates need to be made permanent in order to reduce economic uncertainty.

If the president agrees to make the tax rates permanent for everybody as the Republicans are proposing, he would be truly acting in the best interest of the American people for the first time in his presidency. If he does, I will be among the first to applaud his decision.

But if he chooses to let the tax rates expire for all income brackets as a political move because the Republicans will not support his tax the rich proposal, this economy will go into a further tail spin and he will blame it on the Republicans.

Fifty percent of those making over $250,000 a year are small business owners. This means the economy would stall even more and the unemployment rate would go higher. Just like the Obama Administration did not think the stimulus spending would fail, they do not believe that raising taxes on the job creators will backfire and negatively affect the economy.

Rather than sending this economy into a full scale depression if tax rates go up for everybody, I say let Obama win one! We would only have to endure these failed policies and this economic insanity for another two years. Some businesses will not be able to survive because they are barely surviving today. But many businesses would find a way to hold on until we make a change in control of the Senate and the White House.

The president’s passage of the health care bill was not a victory. It was a resounding defeat, because the majority of Americans did not agree with it and the disagreement grows stronger day by day as people discover more and more of “what’s in the bill” as Nancy Pelosi proclaimed before it was passed.

The stimulus spending bill has been a resounding failure. Just ask those members of Congress who did not mention it in their re-election defeat campaigns.

Even the president described the 2010 midtern elections as a “shellacking”. He’s right. Let’s hope he learned something. If not, let him win one on extension of the tax rates and tell the people what to expect.

We can expect more economic pain until there is a change in the White House.

We won.

As Rush said last week “ Losers compromise, not winners”

But Republicans have a horrible track record. Think Lucy, Charlie Brown, and a football.

RE :”We won Rush said last week “ Losers compromise, not winners” But Republicans have a horrible track record. Think Lucy, Charlie Brown, and a football.

Will see. Obama ‘won’ Obama care and look how far it got him. Politics is a bit unpredictable like the economy, unpredictable humans involved. Ethanol was real popular when Bush signed it, at least for a few months till gas prices went up. Then the voters turned.

Some-times parties get in lose-lose situations, till the next election.

Yes, compromising demoralizes the base, when Obama signs a full extension of tax cuts it will demoralize the liberals base.

One of the walking dead (Bush-bots) keeps pounding on my other door moaning. She thinks she's alive apparently.

night after night talking about the danger of Obama

thats a *great* thing indeed...but I think we need to get away from speaking about bambam as being anything but what it really is, and that is a domestic enemy whose sole purpose is to destroy this country while prepping for the NWO of a 'post American' world...

IMO, everytime we water down the truth by implying its incompetence or simple misguided ideology, we lose valuable time in beating back the invasion...

bambam is in the power seat right now, and he is determined to kill myself and family and everything I hold dear, as well as the principles and concepts of this great Constitutional Republic that i naively believed to be untouchable from my youth...sadly it infiltrated and attacked and was near 'broken' before i was born, and now if it even can be salvaged, theres precious little time remaining to reverse course...

call a spade a spade, so to speak...the muzzcomm is and always will be a mortal enemy of FReedom...

If you think about it, Gilbo, Karl Marx is responsible for more worldwide misery than any man in history, hands down!

Right now Obama is trying to figure out how to get re-elected, he wasnt thinking of that before this election. Now you will see the compromises.

” Right now Obama is trying to figure out how to get re-elected “

Which only proves how obtuse the “Whiny Little Bitch “ Obama is.

The only way he could be re-elected is if we run another RINO again, and even then, it would be tough ;-)

unless he has some excellent forgeries, itll only take a couple states to pass a 'show the BC' law before the primaries and its done...that is the reason i dont think there was ever any holding back from the ramrod of the final socialist solution from day one...

losing the house midstream is a bump in the road, but im sure the powerplayers had that figgured in...beware the lame duck and vastly wealthy EX congresscritters in the near term, and a boatload of executive fiat for the next couple yrs...

I can see where y’all are coming from, but I did not read this commentary and think he is talking about compromise, neither did my husband.

But if you don’t really know or follow Herman, you probably wouldn’t get that.

I’ve heard Herman Cain before. He’s a good guy.

Evidently the mods tho’t my rant was over the top and saw fit to banish them from the Ether...

Probably just as well. I’m in a rotten mood today...

He is not talking about compromise. He is talking about how if Democrats won on raising taxes with Republican opposition, they would likely lose in 2012. Obama knows this and is looking for a way to give-in without losing his base. If Republicans went along with Democrats on tax increases it would wreck Cain's strategy (or his logic.) It would be a disaster for Republicans.

Watching MSNBC tonight it looks like this will be pushed into the next congress. The Reid Pelosi congress is still paralyzed.

Looks to me like Obama is sinking fast. The Washington Post allowed an article by liberal democrats that say Obama should announce he will not seek a second term, in order to salvage his presidentcy.

Dont count your chickens. This election was primarily older white. Next election Obama is counting on the group that re-elected Reid to vote nation-wide. By about summer we will get a feel for how it is going, as we did summer 2009.

This part of Cain I wonder about. If Obama vetos a tax cut bill then he gets the blame, not Republicans.(That would be great.) The Republican new congress can fix it next year retroactively. If it lapses a few days till the new congress, who cares?

So this part I disagree with him. Republicans cannot give-in without looking like they are giving in making them part of the problem.
