Visiting Professor Says East-West Center Was Most Disturbing Experience of her Academic Career
Hawaii Reporter ^ | Friday, November 12th, 2010 | BY POWERLINEBLOG.COM

In July 2010 the NEH sponsored a workshop for college professors at the East-West Center, University of Hawaii. The title of the conference was “History and Commemoration: The Legacies of the Pacific War.” As one of the 25 American scholars chosen to attend the workshop, Professor Penelope Blake anticipated an opportunity to visit hallowed sites such as Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial and the Punchbowl Cemetery and engage with scholars who share her interest in studying this often neglected part of World War II history.

Instead, Professor Blake was treated to the most disturbing experience of her academic career, a conference which she found to be driven by an overt political bias and a blatant anti-American agenda. Professor Blake has forwarded to us the following letter dated September 12, 2010, to Illinois Rep. Donald Manzullo, her congressman, documenting examples of what transpired at the conference

This has been developing since the 1960s when colleges were turned upside down and inside out by liberal, drug infested professors who successfully used the ignorance of youth to incite riots against our Judeo-Christian values.

And remember where those professors came from. If they were in their 30's when they were tenured in the mid-60's, they were born in the mid-30's or before and grew up knowing only FDR. Keep in mind how ardently the communists were working throughout this era through the unions as well as trying to infiltrate higher education. Those guys were the fruits of "progressive" politics.

Ayers and Obama have never been asked to account for those millions of dollars.

They never intended to use the money for the stated purpose.

And to think that black people revere obama while he holds them and their children in utter contempt.

An additional perspective:

"Bankrupting the Enemy is an outstanding account of the origins of the American-Japanese war on several levels. At long last we have an historian who follows the money to illuminate the crucial economic, commercial, and financial underpinning of those origins. ..." (Michael A. Barnhart, Stony Brook University)

This letter would be better directed to the incoming House leadership including Congressman Issa.

I thought their stated purpose was the radical restructuring of the public school system.

Yeah, and they’ll tell you there’s no way to reduce Federal spending. This is a great place to start.

This is a perfect example of why our entire University infrastructure needs torn apart and rebuilt right along with completely destroying the democrat party.

It is so easily done that I'm baffled as to why it has not been done already. The way to kill the university is to take away their monopoly power to credential. Set up a private company that will verify the capabilities of all comers in particular subjects by testing so rigorous, and so difficult that they can offer an insured guarantee to a prospective employer that they will replace any employee who fails to live up to specified expectations.

Done. What university? The whole thing would crumble if parents knew that their kids could stay at home, study, and pass.

You are so right. In addition, every cent of Federal money has to be withdrawn from the University system as it exists along with every cent for the various programs like the one that sponsors such anti-American revisionism. It's one thing to look realistically at the mistakes we as a nation have made and an entirely different matter to revise history and reinterpret it in such a way as to make this country a force of evil throughout the entire history of the nation. To on top of all that teach that we have somehow done evil in the world when we defended ourselves is to not only reinterpret but to deliberately lie.

all that was missing was for obama to come apologize for the trauma of his young life when every day he had to pass Pearl Harbor - where we dropped the bomb

(yet another of hiss campaign faux pas)

Several participants told me privately that they considered me “brave” for speaking up, thus begging the question: At a conference supposedly committed to openness and tolerance of all views, why should it take bravery to speak one’s mind?

Indeed.

We should not be surprised by the hatred of these leftist traitors, but should be made wise everytime they show their ugly heads- and be prepared to chop them off (cut the funding). EVERY time.

It does have a certain bizarre logic to it. The Japanese would not have bombed Pearl Harbor if the US fleet had not been there, for the simple reason that the main target of their attack was the US fleet, not Pearl Harbor per se. Presumably, if the fleet had been in San Diego (where strategically it should have been), the Japanese would have bombed San Diego instead, and (according to these geniuses) that would also have been the "fault" of the US.

If you follow this line of reasoning, I suppose you could equally argue that someone who gets mugged in downtown New York at one in the morning should be prosecuted rather than their attacker, because, obviously, they should not have been in downtown New York at that time. Or a child who hit the school bully who has been taking their lunch money for months should be excluded because were provoking them.

It all makes sense if everything is turned on its head.

This is a perfect example of why our entire University infrastructure needs torn apart and rebuilt right along with completely destroying the democrat party. This is exactly the sort of brainwashing fed students in this country each and every day. Any populace who abandons their own children to systematic brainwashing cannot expect the nation they cherish to long survive such deliberate disinformation. Is it any wonder that when the college age people don’t turn out for elections that the results are far different than when they do?

Well said.

So those boneheaded Professors are saying that Stalin should have been allowed to take the entirety of continental Europe. Commies, they are.

Thanks Lucy. They have been revising history for some time now. Texas had a big fight over school books. If the hispanics had their way there would be less American history and more “Hispanic” history in our textbooks - much more!

You would be amazed to question your own children or even grandchildren and find out how little they know about big events in the history of our country. I recently explained about the Original Tea Party to one of mine!!
