Obama: ‘What About Compliments?' (ZERO)

Obama: ‘What About Compliments?’ Advance copy from the November 22, 2010, issue. William Kristol November 12, 2010 4:00 PM

At his November 12 press conference in Seoul, President Obama was asked the following question by CBS’s Chip Reid: “What was the number-one complaint, concern, or piece of advice that you got from foreign leaders about the U.S. economy and your stewardship of the economy?”

Whereupon the president began his response with a complaint: “What about compliments?” he asked. “You didn’t put that in the list.”

Well, soorrrrrry, Mr. President.

Poor President Obama. He’s (allegedly) getting all these compliments from his fellow world leaders—and the press just isn’t interested in having him tell us about them. True, President Obama became accustomed, as a candidate, to having a compliant press corps. But even so. After a contentious economic summit where the president was forced to defend the Fed’s ill-advised monetary policies, a summit that followed on the heels of the biggest midterm electoral defeat ever suffered by an elected first-term president, a defeat partly due to his ill-advised fiscal policies, did Obama really expect a reporter to stand up at the end of last week and ask, “Mr. President, what compliments did you receive from foreign leaders?”

That is, apparently, exactly what the president expected.

And that has us worried. We’ve assumed the president would learn from the voters’ repudiation of his party on November 2. We’ve assumed he would learn from reality’s refutation of his policies over the last two years. But the vanity that Jonathan V. Last elaborates on elsewhere in this issue seems to be standing in the way of such learning. President Obama has been mugged both by the voters and by reality—but he thinks that he’s still looking good, that he deserves plaudits, and

You’re right, it will not get better and only get worse, esp if we get a Carter like hostage crisis which I think is going to happen.

Worse! Iran will get the bomb.

We need to pray for 0bama.

First, that nobody tries to harm him. This would be tragic on so many fronts, especially for his family. As a Christian, I cannot condone wanton violence, and I must honor the government that God allows.

Second, he needs Salvation through Faith in Jesus Christ.

Third, that such a Salvation would open his eyes to see the Truth of the ends of his current ideology. He doesn’t have to look far.

The healthcare bill was NOT his, although it bares his name, Obamcare (snicker). He just went along with the hard core leftists, who had this bill pre-packaged without him.

You are correct, sir. And the reason for this is that he was too lazy to get involved with the difficult work of crafting a 2,000-page bill. Just as he is too lazy to involve himself in the responsibilities of being President. Just as he was too lazy to write anything for the Harvard Law Review.

I remember hearing the account of the woman who replaced him as the Law Review editor. She inherited an organization that was in shambles. There were a select few students doing all the work while the vast majority simply tagged along for the ride in order to get that coveted Harvard Law Review trophy on their resumé. The new editor adopted a policy that if one doesn't contribute, one doesn't stay. After a couple of months, Obama dropped by for a visit. She hoped that it would be an opportunity for her to gain some helpful advice from his past experience. What she got instead from him was a lecture on her new policy. His comment to her netted down to, "It doesn't matter who does the work as long as it gets done".

That in a nutshell describes the leadership philosophy of Baraq Obama.

Amen and AMEN to all points of your prayer.

Thank you, Westbrook.

It is difficult for me, while reeling from the horror of who this man is, to remember to pray for him. Thanks for the important reminder.

His pushing of the ZeroCare health industry destruction has not helped, either.

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

What, Joe Biden's compliments wearing off?

How could our great country elect someone like this to be our president? A question for the ages...

You don't have to wait that long. I can tell you right now:

After eight years of hate-brainwashing by cynical leftwing operatives, in a coordinated (Journo-List) attack on the American president, millions of mind-numbed Americans came to the point where they hated George Bush more than they loved their country. And they voted accordingly.

Barak Obama was nothing if not the Candidate of Hate. And that's the truth.

We’ve assumed the president would learn from the voters’ repudiation of his party on November 2. We’ve assumed he would learn from reality’s refutation of his policies over the last two years.

Faulty assumptions. Severe personality disorders do not learn from experience. They just double down on their pathology.

Great post, to which I would only add that 0bama was never the Editor of the Harvard Law Review. He was the president of the Harvard Law Review, the first one. Some consider this to have been an affirmative action “position”. It could explain the fact that he wrote nothing.

How about he may be the one to do the most to destroy the Democrats hold on power for at least a long while but hopefully forever.

Compliments;

Out of all of the people in the world, he is definitely one of them.

When his Presidency ends, we'll all be glad.

Sorry Obama, I'm busy. You'll have to kiss your own ass.

This all just gets more strange with this man - he chided the WH press corps in Japan for not saying “thank you” at the end of his press conferences. The White House pool, in unison, said a sing-songy “thank you Mr. President” - described as being sarcastic.

I truly begin to wonder about this man’s stability.

Next, the White House press pool members will start holding up two fingers on each hand " " while saying "Mr. President."
