Bill Gates: Capitalism Has 'Systemic' Problems Government Should Address Bill Gates says that the federal governments job is to address the systemic problems of capitalism. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 By Nicholas Ballasy
(CNSNews.com) - The CEO and Chairman of Microsoft Bill Gates said that capitalisms systemic" problems are not doing enough for research and the needs of the poorest.
In general, the world under funds research because the person who takes the risk of doing the research doesnt capture the full benefit of having done it and so you know, capitalism does amazing things but it has one systemic problem in terms of research that it wont do enough, Gates said at the mHealth summit in Washington on Tuesday.
It has another systemic problem in that the needs of the poorest will not be prioritized the way they would if you put a more human values driven system in. Now, of course we have government that comes in and does its best to take, you know, the beauties of capitalism, which work for so many things and is so fantastic and whenever it can be used, it is better than government.

Exactly, I’m surprised more here didn’t pick up on that point. If the Government would enforce laws fairly, and not confiscate the wealth of those “risk takers”, there would be more research and innovation.
Love it.
Big Government: “Bill has systemic problems, and we are coming for all his moneys.”
Our system didn’t seem to hurt this asshat too much.
I can remember when Lotus, Borland, Word Perfect were competition for MS Office and they could be had for $39.00.
Once M$ destroyed them the price went to $300-$600.00 for Office . How was that doing much for the poor Bill?
Thank you Benito Mussolini Gates, LOL.
Dear Bill:
Government is the biggest problem that needs to be addressed.
Your’s truly...

Would he be happy if Microsoft is taken by the government so that more research can be done? No. He wouldn't. In fact, he gives a lot of money to PRIVATE CHARITIES.
Why not make huge donations to that wonderful PUBLIC SECTOR, hey Bill? Why not?
If it's so great.
No, Bill. Governments REGULATE how much of return research to ostensibly limit the cost impact on the public that would benefit from it.
Fail
Boy, I wish I could ping a couple of the old “Linux is Communist software” folks to this thread.
Bill should have put his money where his mouth is. We should ALL have been getting FREE upgrades of Windows 3.0 since 1987. Everyone who buys a copy gets updates for life.
What does Gates want to be? Soros 2.0?
we should introduce a new law, top 2 billionaires should pay 99% tax rate
I think he ought to check with Jon Stuart before he makes those accusations/s
Betcha he would be singing a different tune way back when he first started out.
don’t be fooled that he’s some big philanthropist. Billionaires use charity as a tax shelter. Its great when you run your own charity. Instead of paying 50% tax rate to the government, just pay 10% out in charity, and keep the 40%
“You mean like Windows Vista?”

Actually, that would be an illustration of how capitalism works.
The free market shat upon the mess that was Vista, and MS had to go back and make it better, so we now have the superior and elegant Windows 7.
Gates may be a good businessman, but he is not a uniquely great one. He has long enjoyed the easy pickings of a natural near monopoly.
uSoft / Gates bump for later..........
Hey, Bill.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 was released today.
Maybe that’s why you’re getting antsy about capitalism.
Capitalism’s systemic problem is that it produces and rewards technically adept goofball idiots like Bill Gates.
