LOL... yea.. ok. Are you working in her campaign by any chance?
I don't really care what her reasons were... "quitting" hurt her. Americans don't like quitters.
I'm not saying she CAN'T overcome it... but, I guarantee you, that action made MOST people LESS likely to vote for her.
Thanks. What a surprise. /s
The 'Stop Palin' express is picking up steam.
I worked on a judicial campaign here in NC, and it was obvious that the Republican ground game was nowhere near as energetic or organized as the Democrats’.
Now, that’s nothing new here - despite this being a fairly red state, the Democrats have always had a better-funded and more sophisticated operation than Republicans, which goes along with their big advantage in registered voters. The Raleigh area also has three major universities, so they have no shortage of foot soldiers.
Of course, despite all that, Republicans took control of both houses of the state legislature for the first time since 1892 and our Republican Senator was re-elected despite being a big target of the DNC, so I certainly don’t want to complain too much.
On the other hand, incumbent Congressmen had a great day here. Incumbents were on the ballot in all 13 congressional districts, and 12 were re-elected. The only race where the incumbent appears to have lost - NC-2 where Bob Etheridge appears to have lost to Renee Ellmers by a thin margin - is probably going to a recount. Even assuming Ellmers will ultimately win, the Democrats will still hold a 7-6 majority of the delegation, so this wasn’t a big victory. Primarily, that shows just how effective gerrymandering is in NC, and just how important the Republican takeover of the state legislature is going to be.
I think the thing to take away from this election is that it was Obama’s unpopularity, not effective campaigning by the RNC, that won the day. If the RNC thinks it did everything right and wants to rest on its laurels, it needs to think again. 2012 is going to be a lot tougher no matter what happens, and GOTV efforts are going to be crucial.
What does any of this have to do with ‘Stopping Palin’?
Al I know this might come as a shock to you. But Free Republic existed long before anybody outside friends and family knew who Sarah Palin was. The thread is mostly about Michael Steele and how he needs to go from the RNC. I saw an opportunity to tie this in with The Haley Barbour Ping List which I run so I did that as well.
Sarah Palin’s name was not mentioned until post #17. This thread was not about Sarah Palin. Free Republic is not the official or unofficial website of Sarah Palin. You need to get over yourself.
loved Haley when he was the face of the rep. party years back. Spoke straight and took on democrats when the only cable show was CNN. He recently said you’ll know if I am running for president if I go on a diet and lose lots of weight....he still has his sense of humor...my neice lives in Mississippi and said he is a popular governor....no ping list please...
