While the RNC is pushing back against people like me for pointing out they did not mount a good GOTV effort because they sabotaged their 72 hour program, theyll have a hard time pushing back against Haley Barbour.
Barbour has, a bit surprisingly, gone on the record to say that the RNCs get out the vote (GOTV) efforts were sub-par. Given just how effective the Republican Governors Association was last week, itll make any sort of push back against Barbour difficult.
Well thats up to the Committee, and I will say that this time the RNC was not able to do what theyve often done in the past, and the Governors Association, the Senate and House Campaign Committees, and others had to scramble around and increase their gathering of resources beyond what normally wouldve been the case because the RNC was not able to do what it had done in the past.
But this is the tip of the iceberg. Im told by several people close to multiple 2012 contenders and also some present elected officials that Republican committeemen began receiving phone calls at the end of last week making the case that it is time for a change at the RNC.

The Haley Barbour Ping List
Let me know if you want on or off the list.
I know it is unlikely to happen, but it would be nice to see Barbour back in the RNC chairman role leading in 2012. He was the best we have seen in recent decades.
“...the RNCs get out the vote (GOTV) efforts were sub-par”
I very much agree.
It seems more likely than not that Barbour is going to make a presidential run. Having said the GOP is unquestionably swinging to the right and it’s leaving Michael Steele behind. I have nothing personal against Steele. He’s simply the wrong person for the job and he needs to go.
The RGA puts up great GOTV efforts when there is a leftist candidate for Governor like in MassaTaxes.
Barbour did go out of his way to help elect a leftist pro-gay agenda governor in Massataxes after all.
Haley Barbour is not Presidential material to me
It’s a great idea.
Yes Geron...everybody knows who you think is the anointed one.
Much better as head of the party.
Well, I don't know if he is or not, but he has that NASCOER accent.
Ohio got a tenth of the GOTV money they usually get from the RNC. Why? Because the RNC can’t raise money with Steele as the head.
Not everyone. As a matter of fact some think I am totally the opposite.
After the 2008 election it was the perfect time for a political leader to take the national stage and really lead the charge against Obama and the socialists. Not as a secondary occupation either.
How many can you name?
Head’s up!
Exactly. Steele has done a great job of alienating conservatives. When he does say anything in support of conservatives anymore it rings as perfunctory and forced.
I Agree 100%.. the GOTV effort was weak.
I volunteered to help in Ky... took them 3 weeks to call me back. When they did, it was 4 days before the election.
I’ve YET to get a single email from RNC. Ever.
