George W Bush has suggested that Republican leader Sarah Palin is "unqualified" and she spoiled the party's 2008 presidential election campaign, a top aide of the former US President has said.
"Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man. He thinks McCain ran a lousy campaign with an unqualified running mate and destroyed any chance of winning by picking Palin," a Republican official close to Bush was quoted as saying by the 'New York Daily News'.
Bush suggested that the 46-year-old glamorous former Alaskan governor is not at all qualified to be President and criticised Senator John McCain for picking her as his Running Mate in 2008, the report said.
Matt Latimer, former special assistant to Bush, wrote in a book released last year: "'I'm trying to remember if I've met her before. I'm sure I must have'. (Bush's) eyes twinkled, then he asked, 'What is she, the governor of Guam?'"
Bush has been disparaging about Palin in the past.
GWB is ruling class - Anything he says should be taken with a grain of salt as propaganda, although by joining the Left on the trashing of Sarah Palin, his commentary will only gain support on the Right for her to be the GOP nominee in 2012.
This good news because the Left is telling us who they fear the most, and directing our votes to that person.
I need to hear this from Bush. Anyone know if this is true? Are there actual sources or is it a Dan Rather type story? If true, then I will be very disappointed with George. I am holding out until there is definitive proof. I truly hope that President Bush did not say this. I find it hard to believe that he would cut down Palin while leaving the moronic kenyan with big ears and the inability to speak with out a teleprompter untouched.
Dubya didn’t say a word of warning when the grossly unqualified Democrat Obama was undermining the Constitution and fundamentally transforming America, but let conservative Republicans start getting a little uppity then the Compassionate Conservative has to trash them.
On what do you base your judgement on the intelligence of another? Here you are saying Bush is not intelligent but you cite no examples. Are you aware his GPA in college was higher then that of John Kerry, who has been lauded as an intellect by the liberal media, a man of "nuance" and "subtleties" who see' the issues in shades of gray rather then the simplistic black and white as do those less intelligent.
Are you one of those people who equate speech patterns with intelligence? Are people from the South, in your view less intelligent then those "elites" from the northeast and on the left coast simply because they speak with a drawl?
Seems as if you are guilty of your own brand of arrogance.
Bush is no longer qualified. He’s term-limited.
The poster forgot the comma after “inspiring,” but otherwise used “grammatical” correctly. It should have read “could not speak grammatical, yet alone inspiring, English.” “Grammatical” and “inspiring” are both adjectives modifying “English.”
BTW, I’m defending the sentence’s grammar, not its content. I consider President Bush to have been a very inspiring speaker (how soon we forget the months after September 11).
Bush=Compassionate Communist
This is more Rovian Bullshit, cowshit, dogshit, pigshit, horseshit, and Babyshit. More caca from Karl Rove. It is all about Rove and his being slighted, he is no longer invited to dinners and parties in DC. So he has to make comments about Sarah Palin. Hey Rove go to h e double hockey sticks, you nothing but a piece of excrement. what good did you do for Bush, the so called architect, that never achieved anything but a paycheck and progressive ideals no child left behind, is a waste of time and money. It was designed so Karl Rove would not be left behind and he is out of the political leadership and has to make personal affronts against Palin, O’Donnell and other conservatives. Rove go to the other side you Dumbocrat.
Carry on. :-)
Er, would you like that in several other languages to go, too, Chunga?
We will see a lot of this, and it up to us to fight the smears. Please, visit sites like www.conservatives4palin.com. The writers there follow Palin's receipe and counter-attack the smears constantly, and with good well directed salvos.
First on the Ticker: Bush, Palin aide disputes book claims
A former aide to George W. Bush and Sarah Palin is dismissing a claim by onetime Bush speechwriter Matt Latimer that the former president was clueless about Palin when she was tapped as John McCain's running mate last August.
Latimer writes in a new book - scheduled for release in October - that Bush wasn't even aware of Palin when she was picked.
"'What is she, the governor of Guam?'" Bush reportedly asked. Latimer also writes that Bush told aides that the then-Alaska governor was "not even remotely prepared" for the national stage.
.......
During a stopover in Fairbanks on the way to the Beijing Olympics last August, Recher said Bush met with Palin and even made a knowing reference to her rising reputation in the Republican Party.
"The president was fully aware of who Sarah Palin was," Recher told CNN. "Even so much that when he greeted the governor and Todd in Fairbanks during a re-fueling stop on the way to the Beijing Olympics, he threw open his arms and said "Madam Vice President!'"
"He was very aware of her rising-star status and who she was and everything about her, even down to the fact that she recently had given birth to Trig," Recher said.
I agree.
One would think that by now people around here would understand that articles touting anonymous sources tend to be untrustworthy.
I don’t know, nor do I much care, what GWB’s opinion of Palin is.
Really, at this point, what difference does it make. :-)
Do you understand that this is an allegation with no supporting evidence?
Hope he doesn’t post at FR, he might get tomb-stoned for that kind of rank heresy.
seriously I don’t think I would of voted at all in 2008 if Palin had not been on that ticket, I hate the RINO McCain with the intensity of a 1000 suns.
I can throw a rock and find people more qualified to be in gov’t in America....
Thanks. Well said!
If you know how to sign your name you are qualified. Congress does all the real work. the pres just submits his/her ideas.
Rove is one of those guys who pathologically hate to lose; their eyes glow in the dark with their power/junk need. Not at all worth our trust as citizens; people have seldom if ever voted for a guy like that, and guys like that seldom run. Martin van Buren, Rahm Emanuel, and Lyndon Johnson are about the only ones I can think of who ran for office themselves. "Dollar Mark" Hanna, Thurlow Weed, Tommy "the Cork" Corcoran, Boss Tweed, Lee Atwater, Col. House, Podesta-Begala-Carville -- all remained in the shadows.
That all said, I think this is all about the Bush family and their constant war against socially deficient, below-the-salt conservatives in the GOP, and their concurrent favoritism and patronage for Mittens. They've been tilting toward him since at least 2007 and showing him subtle but unmistakable marks of favor in public -- especially Senior.
When Dubya was governor of Texas, he never hesitated to contravene the 11th Commandment by endorsing and supporting RiNO challengers (under a "good/better-government" rubric) against conservative Republican incumbents in Texas offices, e.g. the state school board.
Bush was dismissed as a C-student, partying frat-boy, no accomplishes other than being born into the Bush family, an alcoholic, a cocaine user, a moron, a chimp, a person owned and operated by the big corporations. Bush was an all around dolt, who couldn't speak and mangled words.
Now, why can't he and the other country clubbers, see that the lefties do this to all Republicans and to join in, legitimizes and solidifies the attacks on Republicans?
I hate to say this, but I have a long memory for rat-bag, GOP'ers, who use Liberal taking points to attack more conservative Republicans.
Bush's whole "compassionate conservativism" crap, attacked and denigration conservativism as mean-spirited, a favorite liberal meme. Bush's "New Tone" did the same, conservatives are just mean, who attack compassionate libs for no reason. How'd that "New Tone" work out for you again ChimpyMcBushitlerhalliburton? Bush also said during the 2000 primary season that he wouldn't "balance the budget on the backs of the poor".
Going along and criticizing Palin makes Bush a creep. He ought to know better and he probably does. He's supporting the Bushians in the party.
Keep out da Bushes.
Why do most Bush supporters read like exasperated Boston Brahmins tired of sharing a subway car with unwashed Southern white trash?
And accuse conservatives of illiteracy, innumeracy, bad grammar, bad clothes, and worse?
Keep it up.
