George W Bush has suggested that Republican leader Sarah Palin is "unqualified" and she spoiled the party's 2008 presidential election campaign, a top aide of the former US President has said.
"Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man. He thinks McCain ran a lousy campaign with an unqualified running mate and destroyed any chance of winning by picking Palin," a Republican official close to Bush was quoted as saying by the 'New York Daily News'.
Bush suggested that the 46-year-old glamorous former Alaskan governor is not at all qualified to be President and criticised Senator John McCain for picking her as his Running Mate in 2008, the report said.
Matt Latimer, former special assistant to Bush, wrote in a book released last year: "'I'm trying to remember if I've met her before. I'm sure I must have'. (Bush's) eyes twinkled, then he asked, 'What is she, the governor of Guam?'"
Bush has been disparaging about Palin in the past.
Maybe this anonymous nonsense is a good thing. It could force Bush to acknowledge that Sarah is more qualified than Obama, she can at least produce a real birth certificate.
Or that he couldn’t get even a minor reform of social security passed, couldn’t speak grammatical, let alone inspiring English, and in general, couldn’t lead his way out of a wet paper bag.
Ok this story has been floating all over the place the past couple of days and I have a question: Is GW on tape anywhere at all saying this during an interview? He’s been giving interviews right and left but with this particular story it’s always some ‘unnamed’ republican source. I’ll believe it when I hear it with my own ears. Until then, I attribute it to that jackass Rove.
so the big govt rino doesn’t like the small govt conservative?
**shocked**
“And what are the stunning qualifications of Obama?”
Well, “a Republican official close to Bush was quoted as saying by the ‘New York Daily News’ ... (as reported by this other guy in his hit piece) is not exactly a real quote, I don’t think.
But he is respectfully silent about 0baMao’s qualifications.
This story is just a rehash of an unverified hit piece from a couple of days ago. I doubt whether President Bush will bother responding. It is complete crap.
Bush should look in the mirror.
By the way, should Bush be talking about anybodys intelligence?
Please go away Bushes.
Story is Crrrahp!
Unnamed sources? Like who? Rove? Mutt?
Gimme a break.
Yes, we freepers are going to be seeing lots of these “anonymous” sources implying all sorts of negatives from Republican higher-ups. We have to sift through these, and hope that there is a swift rebuttal from those maligned.
It looks like the organized crime connected drunkards at the New York Daily News think they have a hope of stealing national attention from the cocaine addicted homosexuals at the New York Times by fabricating news stories of national interest.
He’ll probably let his pork-faced atheist, “advisor” do take Palin to the woodshed publicly because he’s too much of a coward to do it himself. All conservatives should disavow Bush.
“It is complete crap.”
That’s what I heard from a high official in the previous administration that once told a guy on a bus who repeated it to my nephew said.
a Republican official close to Bush was quoted as saying
enough of this crap. For all we know, that guy was Scott Mclellan.
Let Bush come out and sincerely support Palin or any real conservative. Oh, I forgot, he is too busy praising Obama, the man he made a TARP with, so Obama could get elected. Let’s face it, Bush makes McCain look like Goldwater.
Let's face it, the Sarahcuda would have never:
I am no Bush fan but this hit piece smells to high heaven. Bush was not a great President but he is one of the most polite politicians we have ever seen and this whole smear piece is probably bullcrap.
People are far too fast to believe hit pieces like this with unnamed sources on both sides.
Just my .02.
