I hesitate to write this because I don't want to come off as paranoid. But I figured its worth it to share info just in case there really is something in the planning stages.
Especially after the church masacre last week in Baghdad, I believe that it is highly possible that a similar attack could take place in the US.
Tonight 4 middle-eastern men were seen down our childrens' wing at our church. They were walking briskly and talking in Arabic.
A woman spotted them at the other end of the hall. She tried to catch up to them but they exited into the lobby and by the time she got to it they had disappeared. A few people looked but no one saw them leave the building.
There was no reason for anyone to be down that hallway. There were no children's programs going. It's possible that they could have taken a wrong turn. But it just doesn't feel right.
This is the 3rd incident since last March involving young middle-eastern men. The first one involved them asking odd questions about the size of our services, questions about the children's area, even requesting a layout of the building.
The FBI has been alerted and its been discovered that at least one other church in the area has had a similar incident take place.
I'm writing this here because I think there are alot of FReepers who attend church. I would ask you to inquire whether anything unusual has happened in recent months in your church. Especially if you are a large church. And especially if you are located in the Detroit area.
We must be willing to think about these things (not obsess over them) but reasonably consider the possibility. Thank you.
CALL THE FBI QUICKLY!!!!!!
The local cops should be alerted and be in the area during services.
You are paying them with your and the congregation member’s tax money.
I think you are being scoped out.
It would maybe be a good idea to hire an armed off-duty policeman or two to attend services for awhile.
And you are where? I’d be suspicious, and I’d be locking extra doors and maybe even posting guards at the one door that opened out. Safe > sorry. Esp as it has happened 3 times.
Wise as serpents, gentle as doves.
it sure sounds suspicious to me. Asking the size of the service? I do hope that officials have been alerted.
Call the authorities ASAP!!!
Hmmmmm-worthy...
Ping
Dry run in Baghdad. Your church is next, obviously.
Maybe pay for one but also ask the police department to have another driving around. They people attending are tax payers in the community.
All the men in the congregation should be made aware.
I did. In fact, an FBI agent attends our church. I called him and let him know. I am waiting to see if there is any reasonable explanation for this. Maybe there is. I certainly hope so.
I will post an update if there is any clarification.
You should make a report to your local authorities. It’s their job to make the determination if this is something to be concerned about or not.
WT? Layout of the building?!
Surveillance cameras sound called for.
Michigan is now “shall issue” CCW. People should get a license and carry.
“It would maybe be a good idea to hire an armed off-duty policeman or two to attend services for awhile.”
Shouldn’t be necessary if the parishioners are armed. Should have two men stationed at each entrance.
The congregation should be made aware, and be made participants in safety measures. They should know where to go, how to exit quickly, what doors to lock, etc.
If anything happens, their escape should go off like a drill.
If something like what you and I hope never happens, happens. It will be whatever jihad is only in reverse.
I agree with everyone - call the authorities. Remember the story of actor James Woods witnessing a dry run on one of his flights before a month before 9/11? Mohammed Atta was one of the guys.
I’d find out if a member of the congregation owns or works for a security firm that includes hidden cameras, etc.
It would be a tremendous help for law enforcement if they could not only observe the identities of these guys, but also their BEHAVIOR.
