I hesitate to write this because I don't want to come off as paranoid. But I figured its worth it to share info just in case there really is something in the planning stages.
Especially after the church masacre last week in Baghdad, I believe that it is highly possible that a similar attack could take place in the US.
Tonight 4 middle-eastern men were seen down our childrens' wing at our church. They were walking briskly and talking in Arabic.
A woman spotted them at the other end of the hall. She tried to catch up to them but they exited into the lobby and by the time she got to it they had disappeared. A few people looked but no one saw them leave the building.
There was no reason for anyone to be down that hallway. There were no children's programs going. It's possible that they could have taken a wrong turn. But it just doesn't feel right.
This is the 3rd incident since last March involving young middle-eastern men. The first one involved them asking odd questions about the size of our services, questions about the children's area, even requesting a layout of the building.
The FBI has been alerted and its been discovered that at least one other church in the area has had a similar incident take place.
I'm writing this here because I think there are alot of FReepers who attend church. I would ask you to inquire whether anything unusual has happened in recent months in your church. Especially if you are a large church. And especially if you are located in the Detroit area.
We must be willing to think about these things (not obsess over them) but reasonably consider the possibility. Thank you.
This sounds very, very bad.

You are right to be suspicious and you’ve done a great service by alerting the public.
guns are illegal to carry in church, and pepper spray might not reach the perpetrator.
My cousin (who works in a church office) said they are keeping wasp spray on their desks...it can spray 20 feet, and can blind a guy if your aim is good, and no one looks at it as a weapon.

I’d be very interested in your experienced sense from reading it.
There is usually a large fleet in the Indian Ocean/China sea area. They usually rush a couple ships here to the Philippines when there is a disaster, and they were the first ones to get help to the tsunami folks because they were nearby.
I don’t think they are all there for Obama...unless they are doing a liason with India’s and Singapore’s navies, which help keep the peace on shipping in the area.
I learned this from my B-n-L (with a master's degree from Vanderbilt) historian that has a special interest in weapons and the laws that accompanied them. He is like a walking encyclopaedia of ancient weapons and laws... He can share some amazing stories on dueling in America (the subject of one of his many papers written) in the 18th and 19th centuries, including one duel that went on for hours because of the poor marksmanship qualities of the duelists. They actually had to send back to town for more powder and bullets!
I am just hoping that maybe the folks in Michigan can indeed carry in church. There in no intention on my part to come across as saying "No, Joe, you're wrong!"

How many are we? No comment.
Where do we patrol? No comment.
Is there a pattern? No comment.
Are we armed? No comment.
I missed that one.
Any area presumed to be without guns is a free fire zone.
They are a target for not just Islamists but any other nut bag group...or individuals.
Last year there was a guy in church that gave off all the wrong vibes...he was out of place.. listening to something with a head set..out of the rhythm with everyone else.
He might have been just schizo...but who know’s.. I called the cops.
That's not a compliment.
Thanks for the ping!
We attend a large church in the Atlanta area and my husband has commented it would be the perfect place to take out several thousand at one time. It is scary.
This site is very well informed. http://www.aina.org/news/20080213165617.htm
EXCERPT.
This Islamic calling can be accomplished through techniques ranging from gentle persuasion, propaganda and public relations, intellectual disputation, moral authority, implied threats, actual threats, political power, and violence. The goal remains the same: all of the non-Islamic world, and indeed all of the Islamic world, must submit to Shari'a. A Muslim who refuses to do so will be killed. That is the legal judgment in every major school of Islamic law. A non-Muslim, assuming he is not a pagan (typically a Christian or Jew) might be given the opportunity to live in a subservient status in an Islamic society and pay a special head tax to prove his submission. But this option is left to the Caliph or ruler at the time. Historically, even pagans (such as Hindus) have been given this option but the different schools of Islamic jurisprudence differ on the appropriateness of this dispensation.
Now to the Why? The question should be answered by just taking a look at your neighborhood mosque or Islamic day school. Because this country does not “discriminate” in its immigration policy, we now have several millions of Muslims in this country (the exact number is disputed but we can safely say it is at least 3 million and others suggest it might be as high as 6 million). Take a look at these statistics from a US government open source web site:
Demographic Facts
>Mosques in the United States: 1,209
>American Muslims associated with a mosque: 2 million
>Increase in number of mosques since 1994: 25 %
>Proportion of mosques founded since 1980: 62 %
>Average number of Muslims associated with each mosque in the United States: 1,625
>U.S. mosque participants who are converts: 30 %
>American Muslims who “strongly agree” that they should participate in American institutions and the political process: 70 %
>U.S. mosques attended by a single ethnic group: 7 %
>U.S. mosques that have some Asian, African-American, and Arab members: nearly 90 %
>Ethnic origins of regular participants in U.S. mosques:
South Asian (Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, Afghani) = 33 %
African-America = 30 %
Arab = 25 %
Sub-Saharan African = 3.4 %
European (Bosnian, Tartar, Kosovar, etc.) = 2.1 %
White American = 1.6 %
Southeast Asian ( Malaysian, Indonesian, Filipino) = 1.3 %
Caribbean = 1.2 %
Turkish = 1.1 %
Iranian = 0.7 %
Hispanic/Latino = 0.6 %
>U.S. mosques that feel they strictly follow the Koran and Sunnah: > 90 %
>U.S. mosques that feel the Koran should be interpreted with consideration of its purposes and modern circumstances: 71 %
>U.S. mosques that provide some assistance to the needy: nearly 70 %
>U.S. mosques with a full-time school: > 20 %
Given the almost universal respect Muslims give to Shari'a (even if they fail to live up to its standards), it should be apparent (GO TO the above site for more.
