Ex-President George W. Bush rips wisdom of Barack Obama, Sarah Palin and John McCain to friends

WASHINGTON - Two years of retirement haven't dulled George W. Bush's political zest - and President Obama and Sarah Palin are among his under-the-radar targets.

The 43rd President has told friends the ex-Alaska governor isn't qualified to be President and criticizes Arizona Sen. John McCain for putting Palin on the 2008 GOP ticket and handing her a national platform.

"Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man," a Republican official familiar with Bush's thinking told the Daily News.

"He thinks McCain ran a lousy campaign with an unqualified running mate and destroyed any chance of winning by picking Palin."

I don’t believe anything in this article. It sounds like a load of bs..especially the Palin part. It sounds to me like Rove or someone else is just using the press focus on Bush’s book right now to push their own anti-Palin agenda.

This is not Bush’s style AT ALL. The only person that truly knows President Bush thinking about Obama and/or Palin is his wife and I doubt she is spilling the beans to a nobody in the media.

Outstanding post! The Tea Party needs to continue recruiting and running members— the conservative conscience and counter to the professional RINOs and DINOs and those damned gucci gulch consultants. Not populism, Americanism. Reaganism. Stopping the progressives forever. The Country Party.

Seriously??? How is this even a story? Some knob thinks they can read Pres. Bush's mind? If this is even a quote from anyone, I would be surprised.

The stench on this one is very strong. It smells like...what is that smell? Thinking, thinking....

Honest to Pete, they really want to tear the Republican party apart. I thought this was going to be a quote from his book, and that is what this rag wants everyone to think as well. They think we are so easily manipulated. Please don't prove them right! Call this what it is--PROPAGANDA!

You are correct. On the other hand, whoever Mc Cain picked, would have been deem unqualified by the media.

I suppose that President bush, if he said that, which I doubt until I hear it from his mouth, he forgot about how the media ripped his choice of Chenny as VP.

Crist is a money chaser. Party is no matter. Loved the stimulus. Jeb Bushes recent comments on Crist show either the deft hand of the Bushes in using Crist and tossing him, or they tell the truth about Crist. Crist’s actions, the scandal with Treasurer of the FL Repub. party, tend to show one who Crist really is. He’s like an afghan “fighter”— for rent by the day.

You summed it up well. I don’t think Rove holds a candle to Atwater. The latter believed in the conservative cause. I lost that illusion about Rove the day I saw him extolling the virtues of illegal aliens. I saw this on TV with my own eyes.

It’s this same lack of a deep, genuine commitment to conservatism that makes Rove so dangerous and harmful to us now. He got on TV and ripped O’Donnell in ways he never ripped any liberal leftist. It turned my stomach. This man needs to be neutered before he does even more harm to the conservative movement. With friends like him, etc.

"What is on W’s mind? My guess: The start of the push to nominate Jeb Bush for President."

I just had a flash back moment.

Does anyone remember Daddy Bush visiting Obama? I think Jeb was with him. I think this was about 2 years ago.

This is hard to believe; but I don’t understand the Bushes being friends with that rapist, Bill Clinton.

Same world view.

Besides, Clinton is probably hoping they can get him an invitation to the Bohemian Grove.

Jeb Bush said it’s time for the Republican Party to give up its “nostalgia” for the heyday of the Reagan era and look forward, even if it means stealing the winning strategy deployed by Democrats in the 2008 election. “You can’t beat something with nothing, and the other side has something. I don’t like it, but they have it, and we have to be respectful and mindful of that,”

Ok, I only see quotes around the last sentence. Did he say...

FOX did a brief bit of W’s interview Oprah this morning and when asked if he would support Sarah for President, W said “you betcha”. This article is so bogus.

Thomas M. Defrank is a filthy POS. Where is Girondist Charlotte Corday when we need her. She knew what to do with so-called journalist. Defrank is just another Jean Paul Marat.

Wasn't there some kind of primary funny business which contributed to McCain being selected?

Yeah: the Republican primary process was a friggin' joke. McCain got selected by being the last man standing.

The ball is now in W's court, whether anyone likes it or not. It's part of being a public figure. If these are false attributions he'd better deny them. Otherwise, they will become his opinions, and probably are his opinions.

Two recent Politico articles contained statements that have been publicly repudiated by several. First, Levin and Hannity refuted the statements attributed to them that Palin had cancelled scheduled interviews with their shows at the last minute.

And, last night on Levin's show, Ed Gillespie disassociated himself from any of the sentiments attributed to him and others in Politico's "Stop Palin" article that appeared yesterday.

So, W either refutes this or they are his beliefs. That's how the political and public figure reality plays out.
