“I think the district is about 75% hispanic, though.”

IIRC, it is 51% Hispanic (or was after the 2000 Census). But it is heavily Democrat: President Bush was held to 43% in 2004.

I would like to see Gabby Mercer, the naturalized hispanic woman who ripped Raul a new one at one of his town halls, take him on next time around. She has since become a radio regular and started her own tea party group. I think that she would have a chance.

Same thing that happened to Buck in CO. I think Rossi was also hurt by the 3rd and 4th Party Candidates in WA.

Oh well, you can’t win them all.

Of course, the same can be said in many races. If not for Perot, Clinton would have never been a stain on the Country, or on a Blue Dress.

Is he a Democrat in a border State? Lots and lots of votes from across the river!

One certainly would think that she could have gotten more Hispanic voters to support her than would an Anglo, since her candidacy would have prevented Grijalva from making a “vote for me, I’m a fellow Latino” pitch. It would be almost impossible to win that district without at least 30% of the Hispanic vote.

McClung ran a good race. She is young and should be back. In addition, the district, which is really a horror, stretching for hundreds of miles along the southern border should be revamped. As the state just passed a law making “affirmative action” illegal, it is possible that no predictable Chicano district will remain in the State. If it does, then there likely will be another law suit against the Federal government.

Ruth is running in my district. I sent her 50 bucks last week, hoping she'd be able to pull this win off. If she doesn't succeed, I really hope she runs again in 2 years. No Democrat has gotten less than 59% in this district, so Ruth has come the closest thus far.

Uhhh... He gets elected because he’s a Mexican. Mexicans vote for Mexicans, and if one isn’t available, they vote for the liberal who speaks the most spanish, or promises them the most free stuff.

“He’s not an American. Never has been.”

That’s a fact. And he’s also an ethnic bigot, who referred to her as “white bread.”

You can win some of them, let’s not forget the Florida election where the independent candidate (can’t remember his name, but he was a liberal) lost it for Al Gore giving Bush his win.

Grijalva was challenged by a 28-year-old political newcomer who drew strong support from tea party conservative. McClung, a scientist for a defense contractor, crisscrossed the southwestern Arizona district hoping to tap into the tea party fervor that drove the national conversation this election cycle.

She said she will not concede until all the votes are counted.

"We're still waiting to see all the votes counted," McClung said Thursday night. "There's so many still out there I think it would be unfair for me to do anything right now until they are all counted.

"This was really a grass roots race," she added. "Just a big thank you to all the grass roots. That's what got us this far."

Election officials have until Nov. 12 to complete their final counts.

On another note, did WA state defeat the tax on soda and bottled water and how did the liquor sales measures come out?

“On another note, did WA state defeat the tax on soda and bottled water and how did the liquor sales measures come out?”

Strangest thing - we defeated the income tax measure (again), and restored the 2/3 approval for any tax and fee increases, defeated the soda/water et al tax...and then returned the idiot big spender Murray back to the Senate (well she’s only by by 44,000 votes right now (about 1.5%).

Liquor measures both went down.

I’ve been sick since the election. If Gabby beats Kelly, I don’t think I’m going to make it.

Good grief, I thought Kelly had won.

Is this one in a recount?

I’m sorry, Murray’s up by 2.36%...51.18 to 48.82 for Dino Rossi...I guess Buck is closer than this...why do they still show only 98% reporting in the Buck race? What would happen if he got 1.5% and Bennet only .5% of the remaining 2%??
