New Delhi: The White House will, of course, stay in Washington but the heart of the famous building will move to India when President Barack Obama lands in Mumbai on Saturday.
Communications set-up, nuclear button, a fleet of limousines and majority of the White House staff will be in India accompanying the President on this three-day visit that will cover Mumbai and Delhi.
He will also be protected by a fleet of 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier, which will patrol the sea lanes off the Mumbai coast during his two-day stay there beginning Saturday. The measure has been taken as Mumbai attack in 2008 took place from the sea.

34 warships (inc an aircraft carrier), 3,000 people, the entire Taj, 40 aircraft (incl AF1), 6 armored vehicles, 30 sniffer dogs, 200 top US CEO’s, 150 press, 3 marine one choppers - 200 million a day, a couple of billion during the course of the trip.

India Boosts Security for Obama Visit

India is deploying WMD detectors and a host of other security measures to protect U.S. President Obama during his visit to the South Asian state, the Indo-Asian News Service reported today (see GSN, Sept. 20).
Obama is expected in India on Saturday at the beginning of a 10-day tour of Asian nations (see related GSN story, today).
No particular danger to the president has been identified, but authorities are not taking any chances, indicated Home Secretary G.K. Pillai.
“We do believe that the visit of of the president of the United States of America to India is, shall I say from the publicity point of view, is large enough to try and create something even if it is not in any place nearby where President Obama would be. But it could be somewhere else and, therefore, we would take all precautions.” he said.
Among those precautions are: biological, chemical, nuclear and radiological detectors and related technology at hotels in which Obama is scheduled to stay; deployment of Indian warships near Mumbai during the president’s visit to the city targeted by extremists in November 2008; and jet and helicopter patrols over Mumbai and New Delhi, along with additional city police and National Security Guard operations in the cities.

ITC Maurya taken over by US security

Barack Obama New Delhi, Nov 4 (IANS) Seventytwo hours before US President Barack Obama reaches Delhi, the ITC Maurya Sheraton hotel which will host him has been literally taken over by US security officials.
Around 50 white colour Toyota Camrys, Honda Accords and mini vans, some hired and others with the blue diplomatic number plates of the US embassy were parked in an exclusive parking lot in front of the hotel lobby.
“These cars are used by American officials to travel from the hotel to the embassy and back. Entry of private vehicles inside the lot is absolutely barred,” a valet attendant who did not wished to be named told IANS.
With police personnel patrolling the lawns outside the hotel on foot and police van with armed commandos stationed on both sides of the main gate, the seriousness of the atmosphere was palpable.
A guard at the main entrance gate had an electronic hand-held RDX detector which replaced the under vehicle inspection mirrors used as recently as last week to detect hidden bombs.

Has there been any real reason given for this trip? On Beck’s show this morning he was saying it was so the 0bozo family can “experience the festival of lights”... Beck’s response was that he should get George $oro$ to pay for it AFTER HE’S OUT OF OFFICE!!!.

And just as I suspected zero's reply to the overspending on the India trip was just what i was afraid he would say: "the numbers(200 million per day) have no basis in reality" its all they have to say until we start documenting this huge abuse of taxpayers money. Until we do the DBM will defend and ignore the spending.
The gentleman Beck was speaking to laughed when that was given as the reason for the trip, but he didn't elaborate any further...

Since it is difficult to monitor such a congested area, they came up with a quick solution which left the Indians accompanying them amazed: A bomb-proof over-ground tunnel — to be installed by US military engineers in just an hour.
The tunnel would be a kilometre long and measure 12ft by 12ft — enough to let Obama’s cavalcade pass through. The tunnel would be centrally air-conditioned, fitted with close-circuit television cameras, and will be heavily guarded at every point, including, of course, its entry and exit.
Details about when exactly the tunnel would be made were not forthcoming. But officials said that the structure would be dismantled immediately after Obama leaves the area.
