'I blame Karl Rove'
STG News ^ | 11/3/10 | William Way, Jr.

Posted on 11/04/2010 4:30:30 AM PDT by Dr. Scarpetta

There is a singular event that shoved the Republican Senate car over the cliff.

That event was the primary victory of Christine O'Donnell. This morning she used a phrase that is right on the money. That description is "Republican Cannibalism."

I personally hold Karl Rove to blame, followed closely by Senator John Cornyn. Rove is an establishment Progressive Republican of the first order.

Following O'Donnell's message of values victory in Delaware, Rove started slinging mud in her direction because he realized she was a woman that couldn't be bought & sold on a D.C. street corner.

It was Rove who almost exclusively undermined an untested Republican. When challenged, he became entrenched, making it a media story.

Coming out of a surprise primary victory, everyone would obviously be questioning O’Donnell’s candidacy.

It's the "Man Bites Dog" story. Rove turned an opportunity to help create an up-and-coming political star into much less.

The bottom feeder Rove chose for his personal aggrandizement to put blood in the water. The sharks had a feeding frenzy.

The result was that yet another "Traditional Values Candidate" was beaten by her own political party, & the momentum of several other races was slowed.

It gave Reid & others the chance to further paint traditional values candidates as kooks. The Republican cannibalism resulted in the Senate leadership failure to get behind Republican nominees.

The cannibalism by a self-professed REPUBLICAN strategist, wrapped up is his own glory led to lost momentum by MIller, Fiorina (albeit her real defeat was the unfortunate infection), Buck, Angle & Rossi.

His poor choices contributed to a decay of no less than 15 percent-point in Delaware. Had Delaware been advocated by Rove, rather than diminished, today we would be looking at a three-seat Senate majority, & a Republican Governor in CA.

I disagree that there is much difference between grass roots or pundits trashing Repub candidates.

That's not the point here...it's where "the pundit" showed his a$$...on TV...trashing somebody who had just been elected in a GOP primary.

Rove would probably be happy if voters got out of the way and let him select all candidates!

I have no respect for him...and I don't trust him behind the scenes.

Rush stated on election night that if O’Donnell loses, it will be because of “people on our side” (read: Rove.)

I can almost guarantee that Rove will NEVER sub for Rush. Never, never, never again.

People can whine all they want about Rove, but Rove did not cause a single loss by a candidate,

Agree. wasn't that long ago that liberals were blaming all their troubles and woes on Rove. He was their poster boy for everything they despise. Funny how the tables have turned. All he has to do is show up on FNC for a 5-min. segment and question the creds of one or two conservative candidates and he's evil incarnate. The guy is paid to be an analyst, not a cheeleader.

Oh, and libs still hate his guts.

Indeed.

Rove could have endorsed O’Donnell and spent every minute of his life in Delaware campaigning for her, and the NRSC could have sent her a billion dollars, and O’Donnell still would have lost by 10+ points.

People who think that Karl Rove controls the universe sound like DUers, frankly.

He can state his objective opinions or he can actually promote the GOP. He cannot do both intelligently and productively. True objective opinions publicly stated inevitably will betray his allegiance and promotion of the Party.

karl Rove is smart enough to realize the tea party isn’t trying to put him back in the white house.

Since O'Donnell would have lost either way, what would have been better for the Republican Party? Rove saying "O'Donnell is the Republican candidate and she has my support", or Rove bad-mouthing her while she is conducting a campaign?

Very few think Rove controls the universe or is the primary cause for O'Donnell’s defeat.

Most all true Conservatives, however, know that Rove is not of their tribe and is a narcissistic self promoter.

His endorsement, or not, of COD is not what is important. His behavior was totally out of line...he went beserk...on TV.

If Obama or any lib had behaved the way Rove did, we would have been laughing and talking about their "crazy" behavior.

I watched Rove's rant thinking, "I'm not believing this! He's as 'Kooky' as he's claiming she is."

Now wait just a minute!
Wasn’t COD the Senate nominee of delaware Republicans in 2008?
How did she become so unqualified?
Castle wouldn’t have won even if the nominee.
If he had we Reps still wouldn’t have won Senate control.
Rep running for House in Del also lost.

Why are you siding with MSM in trashing TEAparty?

HELLO??

“...O’Donnell wasn’t a good candidate. Simple as that...”

It’s not that simple; what IS simple is this:

“ONE TEAM, ONE FIGHT”.

Rove forgot that or ignored it.

You get behind your people and you push them forward; you don’t get in front of them and trash them and aid/abet the enemy.

That’s what’s simple.

Would she still have lost? Maybe; but at least it would have been been WITHOUT being backstabbed by “our” own side, and we would have shown a unified front against the Left.

The message Rove publically sent was “She’s a LOSER!” He wanted the RINO and showed his true colors with his little public temper tantrum, and who the Hell KNOWS what kind of damage and sabotage he was doing to her campaign behind the scenes.

We hang together, or the Left will gladly hang us seperately, given the chance.

To my mind, Rove gave them that Senate seat.

D-U and you silly attempt to smear me as bashing the Tea Party just because I have a different opinion.

I've posted endlessly about O'Donnell's complete lack of qualifications. Go search my posts, I'm not going to defend myself against someone so uninformed.

If you think her losing two previous elections by double digits (and exit polls showed Castle losing by ONE point--margin of error), suing for "gender discrimination," being investigated for not paying her campaign staff, being investigated for improper use of campaign funds, lying about her past, and having NO qualifications for the senate means she's qualified, you must think Obama is qualified.

GOODBYE.

What secures Rove's etrenched positin on the Republican party are his ties to big money.Thise big money folks ned to be convonced that they should be supporting candidates like O'Donnel, thats called "the end run."Then we can sequester the Roves to the dust bin of history where they belong.

Rove and his cohorts have by their conduct clearly defined themselves as enemies of the coservative movement. That is O'Donnels victory even though she did not win the election. Now we hit theoir money suppiers and undermine Rove et,al.Thats the point.

I think Rove, et al had an impact. I’m not sure if they had *that* much of an impact - especially in freaky deep blue KalifornIyea...

I laugh at the hypocrisy.

On the dozens upon dozens of anti-NRA posts on FR prior to the election, all the NRA opponents (who claimed dozens of times to relinquish their life memberships) claimed that the only thing that was important was who they would have voted for for Majority Leader/Speaker.

Now, some are saying that they were glad we had COD, even if she lost, because she put an end to Mike Castle. Karl Rove was right. Guess what? By the same logic, Mike Castle would have voted for a Republican Majority Leader (in retrospect, it wouldn’t have mattered, but who’s to say what would have played out in that circumstance).

If you don’t believe someone is a good candidate, why lie and say they are?
