Coons Camp Expresses Turnout Worries
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 11-2-2010 | Neil King Jr

Most polls have predicted that the closely watched Delaware Senate race between Democrat Chris Coons and Republican tea-party favorite Christine O’Donnell was going to be anything but close. One poll last week had Mr. Coons up by 10 points, while all the others gave him a far more comfortable margin.

But Democrats in Delaware remain skittish.

In a noon email alert to supporters, Coons campaign manager Christy Gleason said close monitoring of voter turnout in the state’s 41 representative districts showed “lower turnout in New Castle and Kent counties than we’re comfortable with.”

Doesn’t that say it all!?!?

Exactly. The last thing I want to see on a politician's resume is "experience".

Does anyone know if Christine O’Donnell was ever able to get her PAID FOR 30 MINUTE ADD RUN ON TV??

Yes she did, several times both yesterday, and today...

I think they actually might have shown it a couple extra times, to try to make up for their initial “forgetfulness.” The campaign had paid for 2 or 3, and the station showed it 2x yesterday and 2x today. I’m glad - that makes me think it was an honest mistake, but it could also have been a CYA. At least it was shown, hopefully in time.

As for turnout worries - that’s only half their problem. How do they know the dems who DID turn out were even voting for Coons? I’ve heard rumbles that many dems are voting as per normal state-wide, but voting republican at the federal level to send the Obamessiah a message.

AH! HA! Let us pray!

“Thank you Father! Thank you for such a strong showing for Christine! Thank you for making the ideals inspired by you, made real by the founders of this nation, the ideals of this lady so beleaguered by corruption and corrupt figures seeking power! Thank you Father for supporting her in victory!”

AMEN!

Getting the same sense here. May be an interesting night, to say the least.

If we can get some of them "off the plantation", albeit temporarily, there may yet be hope of getting them to abandon it, for good...

“This would be the even sweeter than kicking Dingy Harry out on his bony ass.”

Weeeeelllll, I think the NV race is more important. But this would be as they say, the icing on the cake.

TRANSLATION: Blacks are NOT out there voting 5 or 6 times each as usual, therefore it’s time to make allegations of “voter intimidation” so as to provide grounds for a suit and possible recount should the bearded Marxist LOSE!!!

I stopped by a few districts this morning in New Castle County, and it was cold out and the turnout was low. At one polling place, a nice young black lady was standing there holding a Christine O'Donnell sign despite the cold--something that must have heated up all the swarms of Chris Coons supporters gathered there.

On the other hand, I heard many people during the day talking rather enthusiastically about being sure to vote against Christine O'Donnell after work. Whether some were hiding what they will actually do in the voting booth, who knows.

I hear that they ran out of provisional ballots at SDSU, probably because of the marijuana initiative...

I had a printout of all the propositions and what to vote yes/no for so I went prepared. Some of these propositions I am not even familiar with so thank goodness for the printout. Voted NO on weed..this state is already insane, they don’t need to be high too

Sussex is also a lovely place to spend a summer week. I’ve been vacationing at Bethany Beach for years. The Sussex interior coutnryside certainly seems as conservative a Maryland’s Eastern Shore counties tend to be.

I’m a little concerned about Rehoboth Beach, however, which from about the mid-eighties became Fire Island South, with a militant homosexual sect.

Takoma Park with sand, if you will.

You are depressingly correct about Rehoboth.

Looks like O'Donnell got trounced, as I had originally suspected before I briefly got my hopes up.

It also looks like Sarah Palin's picks are not panning out. Haley is on the edge, O'Donnell is out, Raese is out.
