Mumbai: The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs. 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama's visit to the city.
"The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.
About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments.

Man, Congress needs to pass some new laws to avoid this from
ever happening again, ever, on the taxpayers dime. This SOB
is going to break the bank one way or another. Any amount over a set figure should have to be paid out of their own pockets. This has to stop. Another thing that needs to be stopped is flying air force one around the country to to campaign for either party. Imagine the cost to the taxpayers
for these purposes, also, Nancy Pelosi should never have been permitted to have a 747 for her personal use nor should any
house speaker in the future be permitted such waste of tax dollars.

An estimated 760 rooms have been booked by the President’s contingent and Indian authorities receiving him in Maurya, Taj, The Ashok and Intercontinental hotels.
Official estimates suggest during Obama’s maiden visit to the capital, the combined cost of Indian and White House officials will be about Rs 15 lakh per hour.
Just his two-day stay at Maurya will cost anywhere between Rs 1.2 crore and Rs 1.8 crore per day.

Just days after the midterm elections, President Barack Obama will fly to Asia for a four-country diplomatic tour, which is bound to be a relief in some ways.
The president will leave behind the bruising partisan politics of the domestic arena for the friendly turf of India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan. It is also “a very good time for a president of the United States to reassure allies and friends, given some of the actions and anxiety and concern about Chinese behavior this last year,” he said. Obama also will visit Pakistan in 2011, the White House announced when it said Obama would not stop there this trip, as some commentators had speculated.
Why not go this time? He’s already over there. Oh, silly me, an excuse for another trip on tax payer dollars next year. Or maybe the big Moose didn’t want to go to Pakistan. Too icky for her.
The president thinks he is an emperor, and entitled to take whatever he wants from the people who he hates.
I want to know why the hell does it require 3000 people for him to go to Mumbai. If they’d all stay forever, it might be worth it, but this is crap.
Wake up people! He will be in India for TWO not 10 days. All this for TWO DAYS at a cost of $400 million.

I honestly don’t get these people. This is an order of magnitude worse than the FLOTUS trip to Spain. Are they that tone deaf or is he just such a narcissist he can’t help himself? This also sounds like someone who is extremely paranoid, almost like Howard Hughes later on in his life. Either way it’s a very unhealthy sign and indicates this guy has some serious emotional or mental issues.
The pubbies need to hammer this relentlessly and show just how out of touch and I think even dangerous he is. Americans simply can’t realate to this.
10 day trip..if 200 million in India...not much of a stretch to imagine what is being spent elsewhere.
