Miller leads in Alaska

Joe Miller is favored heading into the final two days of the US Senate campaign in Alaska. 37% of voters say they'll pick him while 30% plan to vote for Scott McAdams and another 30% plan to write in Lisa Murkowski. Miller is winning despite having the worst personal favorability numbers of the three candidates. Only 36% have a positive opinion of him while 59% view him in a negative light. McAdams is by far the most popular with 50% rating him favorably to only 30% with an unfavorable one. Voters aren't very enamored with Murkowski either, giving her a 37/53 approval rating.

How can McAdams be so much more popular than Miller yet still be trailing the race? It's because 92% of the small group of voters that does like Miller is planning to vote for him. But only 56% of the voters with a positive opinion of McAdams are intending to cast their ballots for him, while 31% of them are going for Lisa Murkowski.

The high number of voters who like McAdams, dislike Miller, and are voting for Murkowski place the race in a whole different light than has been thought of the last few months. Murkowski's campaign, rather than propping herself up at the expense of Miller, may actually end up propping Miller up at the expense of McAdams. You never know how things would have unfolded in a two way race but Murkowski seems to be taking a lot more voters away from McAdams than she is from Miller.

Praise the Lord!!!

This was not posted at real clear 10 minutes ago? I will check again

I hope this poll is accurate, this is really the most important race now for those of us who love Sarah and America.

Yes there are other very important races!

Heck they were trying to tell me yesterday that Joe was down double digits.

Funny thing was last week I mocked the phony polls, and then they started to worry me the last few days.

Good news ... but you’ve got a typo in the header. I think it’s spelled Merkinsky.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

Zogby is famous for doing his last update at 5 PM on election day, and then he says he was accurate.

So yes all these pollsters that say they are accurate, including RAS!!!!!!, may be full of crapola

I question the science of polling in such a partisan environment. I believe the science has been lost when it comes to political polling.

This poll had not yet been released at the time she was on Gretta. Assuming she did not have wind of it at that time??

A dem who is holding his nose and voting for MirCOWski, may decide to vote for McAdams when they see that he is supposedly tied with the cow.

So this should help Joe either way?

I’m out in the bush (King Salmon/Bristol Bay/SW Alaska) and the few people I’ve talked to wish Lisa would have retired gracefully.

I think she’s toast.

From your keyboard to God's monitor. I suppose it would be unsporting for people at Miller's victory party to chant "Sore Loser Lisa! Sore Loser Lisa!", especially in front of TV cameras. I hope to be doing that at home.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but psychological studies, lots of them, repeatedly demonstrate that people don't trust a man with a beard.

It's not really a beard. It's that cool, unshaven unkempt look that is so popular now. I agree that he should shave. I don't like the unshaven look on anybody.

But I also don't think it is affecting the senate race.

Miller should have run as a clean shaven candidate. Then after being elected, grow the beard.

Her too.

I have been flipping between Fox MSNBC and CNN to listen for any mention of this poll.

Just 10 minutes ago Chucky Todd and him gang did the polls. They chose one of the phony polls that had Miller in 3rd down 10 points.

He did mention in passing that there was a new poll out but they did not think it seemed any good, he only mentioned that this new poll had The Cow and McAdams tied. I swear he did not mention that Joe was ahead at all.

They also chose not to go with the same PPP poll for the Washington race that had Rossi up 2, but instead are showing the one that has Murray up 1 or 2.

Pathetic

(you are NOT being flamed!!!)
President Lincoln?
President Grant?
President Garfield? (IIRC)
General Robert E. Lee?
A fair number of other elected officials?
(probably) Jesus of Nazareth?

I’m just joking with you.
I suspect this attitude has shifted over the years until
convenient instruments for staying clean-shaven became widely available.

My naive suspicion is that in these days, it’s a bit tougher to
read facial expressions of a guy with a modest/heavy beard than
that of a man that’s clean shaven.
Hence the (at least initial) distrust of bearded men.

See?

Living proof that RINOS take votes away from Democrats. The same goes for Christ. Rubio will hand him his ass on a platter tomorrow!

Hubby and I agree that he looks ickky with the half-assed beard and he’d probably be more popular without it. But the voting will be in Alaska, and Alaskans have a completely different perspective on these kinds of things. Whatever... praying that Miller win with enough margin that there’ll be no recount, question, etc.

I can’t wait until Wednesday.

In a fair world, this would be called “vote suppression” (i.e., discouraging
voters to not waste their time voting because their candidate is
“a lost cause”.)

Of course, we don’t live in a fair world.
Because there are Democrats/liberals/socialists.

ahahaha - dog/bone

let's look at this another way.

It's interesting that one would be so adamant in believing a ‘study’ by ‘experts’ while ignoring first hand (as in native Alaskans) on this subject.

Methinks you might make a great socialist - follow the leader without any independent thought or research.

bye

Fox News did the same thing this morning during Americas newsroom. Martha M had on a dem strategist and Rino Kevin Madden and all they talked about was that Joe Miller was down and how bad this would be for Sarah Palin.

At no point did the host ever say, there is a new PPP poll out that has Miller up 7, she should have known this! It`s posted at RCP the gold standard according to Fox, personally I think averaging polls is a farce, but they never mentioned the latest poll had Miller up.
