What metal container? What if it was in a cardboard box, like most shipments? How would anyone know to look in “that box over there” because it looks suspicious?
There’s something missing here; because if there’s no radiological device, then it really makes no sense, as I can’t imagine any reason to just presume there’s an altered ink toner cartridge in some random box from Yemen.
Update from Harris Faulkner
She’s found out there was a suspicious
pkg at the fed courthouse in Portland,
ME .. no apparent airport connection.
the US Marshall’s office is in that bldg.,
and they’ve not been evacuated, but the
area has been cordoned off.
So this IS NOT airport/cargo plane related.
A very remote airport in the UK .. seldom
used generally .. is where the cartridges
were found with the suspicious wires attached.
Originated in Yemen.
Unless something actually detonates, or someone is somehow injured, I doubt that anyone is going to “confrim” that they have found explosive devices aboard any aircraft.
That’s the kind of news that they absolutley don’t want to put out to the public...
Just got a text from a LT in the NYPD. One sentence.”This is VERY real”!

President Barack Obama waves as he walks from the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, as he leaves for a tour to a local business and deliver remarks on the economy in Beltsville, Md.
Yeah I am wondering this. It started some where to enable suspicion. No reports of anyone calling in a threat...
Sealed containers? Maybe the ink cartrige story was found emtly upon delivery but who what reported it?
There was that incident on 9/11.
He might if he can convince people that there is still a threat (that packages got through).
Or maybe he will say that they will not be able to move ballots, election equipment because he shuts down UPS, Fedex, etc.
It’s a long shot but I put nothing past him, nothing.
Yes and they also said “we don’t know if this is a terrorist event. We’re working on it”.
I trust them about as far as I trust any Saudi owned news network.
So it is a nothing? Obama will go on Letterman and say because of him it was thwarted.
YIKES!

I notice that they’ve brought in a Porta-Potty, which means that they’re probably going to be out there all day, screening every piece of freight that they un-load from that airplane...
That is my suspicion.
UPDATE from CNN:

Also, saw in lunchroom on CNN, that the packages were tipped off by an “ally” and that they were supposedly en-route for synagogues in the Chicago area.
Interesting
Maine too? Is there a close election in Maine? This is smelling more and more like an October Surprise. Prepare for elections to be suspended until ‘officials’ can check out all voting places (and Obama and the dems can get a boost from stopping a ‘huge terrorist attack’.
The enemy is inside the gates and running our country now. We can’t afford to trust any of them.
"...we touch n go landed and were literally told by the pilot afterwards- we did not have permission to land."
There is a cross runway in Philly that accepts many of the regional jets, Dash-8s, and 737s. The flights intermittently use each approach during the busy hours of the day. Every now and then the timing gets off and a flight needs to be waved off. It happens much more than you think - several times a day.
Roger that.
No problem, we can absorb it...
