MIAMI — Hispanics are increasingly concerned about a backlash against them, even as they are split over the effects of illegal immigration on the country. Their anxiety comes as illegal immigration and border security are playing major roles in election campaigns nationwide.
More than 60 percent of Latinos say discrimination against Hispanics is a "major problem," up from 54 percent who said the same in 2007, according to a report to be released Thursday by the nonpartisan Pew Hispanic Center.
Three years ago, Hispanics were most likely to cite language skills as the biggest reason for discrimination. Now, more than a third believe immigration is the biggest factor.
That said, the number of Latinos who reported they, their family or close friends have experienced discrimination remained unchanged from last year and actually dropped from 2007.

I would LOVE for Laura to come into my neighborhood and talk to our Hispanic neighbor Sandra. She is a 5th or 6th generation LEGAL citizen, and speaks little Spanish. Same goes for her husband. Neither can stand the illegal immigrants and she has NO problem telling them.

You know, the most clearly documented American outrage against an ethnic group by an enraged white guy was FDR locking up all the Japanese Americans after Pearl Harbor. And he's a leftwing hero for his efforts. The left needs to worry about the madmen in their own camp and stop projecting their own genocidal tendencies on to good normal white people.

My wife (hispanic), her family and my hispanic friends all fear and have seen some backlash from the anger over illegals, and they all want the laws enforced. Our anger (I have children who are brown) is rightly directed toward the illegals, the politicians and others who allow it.
Sadly, my family recognizes that and even though most of my family is Hispanic, we want the immigration problem resolved by building a wall and deporting the law breakers. Does it make it right to judge someone by their look? If it is look alone, no. But, generally, if you see someone who is brown who doesn't speak English, then you have found someone who likely is illegal. Right or wrong, the Mexican invaders have brought this upon all fellow Hispanics.

Two of us guys looked at her and asked where she learned Spanish so well and she said, “Well, I am a Mexican”. Neither of us had a clue. She is the same about the illegal problem. The only reason she retained Spanish is to communicate with some of the people in her daughter's school.

You say Hispanics of legal or illegal status better publicly say what you want them to say because you can’t tell then apart from each other.
That sounds like a threat to me. Just what are planning to do if they don’t publicly agree with you? Yell at them? Shoot them?
What if someone of Hispanic ancestry had the timidity to do publicly disagree with you? Even Hispanic Americans are free to hold whatever stupid opinions they wish.
