There is a lady at work who looks like a runway model. Tall, thin with a fair complexion who is 100% Hispanic. I never knew she was until we were at a conference and several of us went out for some Mexican food. She ordered in Spanish, since the wait person was Hispanic.

Two of us guys looked at her and asked where she learned Spanish so well and she said, “Well, I am a Mexican”. Neither of us had a clue. She is the same about the illegal problem. The only reason she retained Spanish is to communicate with some of the people in her daughter's school.

My frmr landlord here in Hollywood was the same. I could have sworn they were Irish...really, until the time I caught the wife speaking to the maintenance guys in espanol. Then another mex neighbor told me that in mexico there are 2 types, the mestizo and aztecas. The mestizos are the white looking guys and so forth.
