Ariz. Law Requiring Voters Prove Citizenship Is Struck Down

PHOENIX -- A federal appeals court on Tuesday struck down a key part of Arizona's law requiring voters to prove they are citizens before registering to vote and to show identification before casting ballots.

The decision by a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the law requiring voters to prove their citizenship while registering is inconsistent with the National Voter Registration Act. That federal law allows voters to fill out a mail-in voter registration card and swear they are citizens under penalty of perjury, but doesn't require them to show proof as Arizona's law does.

Impeach, try, remove, repeat as necessary.

They did this, of course, immediately before the election, so they couldn’t be overturned.

Just more reason to work harder and push through to victory.

The “Don’t Tread on Me” crowd has just been roundly tread-on. They think they can do anything, don’t they? We are all AZ’ans now. Hope you all like the government you allow.

Proving citizenship to vote? How about proving citizenship to run? When’s that law coming before the courts?

Early voted yesterday in NC. Gave them my name and address. No ID necessary as long as it matches up with what the nice lady had on her laptop. By the way, they also required that my cell phone be turned off. First I’ve ever been asked to do that. But, I suspect that had more to do with avoiding obnoxious phone conversations than anything else.

Wouldn’t a criminal, illegal alien’s oath be good enough for you? Why would you want proof?

What would prevent me from voting in all fifty states by absentee ballot if I don’t have to show a driver’s license or state ID in good standing? I’ll bet you anything that’s what’s happening nationwide. Liberals have no morals as long as they “feel the ends justify the means” (I had a very nice liberal tell me that a couple of years ago); conservatives are by the book lawful and moral and won’t do the same. That’s why we need twice as many conservatives to vote these next two election cycles!

You know Motor Voter is a corrupt fraudulent bill when it was the first one signed into law by Clinton.

It needs to be struck down and replaced with a common sense, simple law mandating pictured id. Heck, I'd even go for Purple Finger voting.

Ironic (and depressing) that so many in the Judical branch are hell bent on ensuring that the law ISN’T followed.

I think it’s time for states to simply ignore these rulings and let the court attempt to enforce them.

Bingo! The fed is not even abiding by their own laws anymore. Let the hypocrites try and enforce it.

FYI there was an interesting exchange on Fox this morning. The panel was discussing the Arizona ruling and the leftists on the panel began to suggest that illegals and non-citizens be allowed to vote in local elections only. This proposal was clearly a trial balloon and the first step toward allowing illegals to vote nationally. Interestingly the host (Doocey) and the conservative panel member let this pass without a comment. This Camel’s nose under the tent proposal needs to stamped out ASAP.

There’s a ballot initiative in Portland, Maine to let illegals vote! The local TV station went out and interviewed some illegals and guess what? They said “We love Democrats and hope they win.” True!

“There’s a ballot initiative in Portland, Maine to let illegals vote! “

Time for a pre-emptive strike. I suggest that one of the first actions for the new congress is a law making it a felony for non-citizens to vote in any State, local or federal elections. Let’s see the RATS oppose THAT and make Obama veto it if it passes.
