The Hurt campaign and the GOP are probably celebrating. I wonder if lapdog Perriello will join him at the event? lol

Obama continuing his college tour at the University of Virginia...trying to give the emotion-driven students another round of kool-aid.

What a waste of time. Perriello has no chance. I heard on a local radio station the other day that Perriello’s sole support is within the city of Charlottesville. Unfortunately for him, the 5th District is huge in geographic area (someone posted on FR that it is larger than the state of New Jersey. True?) and out in the boonies no Perriello signs are to be seen.

I Googled it and found that it is indeed larger than New Jersey. The 5th Congressional District comprises 8,922 square miles and New Jersey is 8,722 square miles in size.

No, Perriello has been considered a goner for a long time now. The only question was who was going to be the Republican candidate to take his place. It should not be even close.

Obama is just going through the motions. Very few college studenhts, I have read, are going to participate in this elections without The One on the ballot.

Agreed. Western Virginia is my Shangri La. I don't want it "soiled". ;-)

Welcome to FR!

UPDATE:

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. —
President Barack Obama will campaign in Virginia Friday for embattled Rep. Tom Perriello.

Obama will speak at a rally for Perriello at the Charlottesville Pavilion, an amphitheatre located on the city’s downtown mall.

Perriello is locked in a highly competitive race against Republican state Senator Robert Hurt.

White House official said Friday’s event was added at the request of Democratic House leadership and Perriello’s campaign.

With the November 2nd election fast approaching, Obama is spending much of this week at the White House. He’ll wrap up his midterm elections campaigning on a two-day, four-state swing this weekend as he makes a final push to rally Democrats ahead of Election Day.

Friday’s event is expected to begin after 5:00 p.m. The President is scheduled to fly into Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Airport aboard Air Force One.

I live in Virginia's 5th and hear the standard misleading Demo ads again. Perriello says the repubs will take away your social programs, playing to the elderly as usual. Let's hope the voters don't fall for the lies.

That's a very small runway served mostly by turbo props. I wonder how exactly they plan to fit Air Force One on such a runway.

You’re thinking of Boucher’s seat. Boucher, a Blue Dog, was thought to be cruising to re-election a month ago.

I have no idea why Obama is going to U of Virginia. Its students are from all over the state and all over the world. And, actually, it’s not big as compared to U. of Wisconsin at Madison.

I’m half-way of the opinion this UVA appearance is because they’re trying to make it look like the guy is campaigning when they’re actually keeping him away from the real hot spots.

This appearance is going to help Republicans win three Virginia Congressional seats currently held by Democrats and may even have implication for the West Virginia Senate race and a few Congressional races in West Virginia and western North Carolina.

I grew up under the shadow of Afton in the ‘Boro. I loved trekking up to Swannanoa in the evenings to see the deer. It has pained my heart to see Perriello occupying Virgil Goode’s old seat. We should have consolidated Districts 5 & 6 and given Goodlatte two votes.

Well, in the Hampton Roads area, I doubt we’ll see Obummer out for Nye-guy...Nye is running so fast away from the Pelosi-Obamanation, he can’t see them in the rear view mirror.
Perriello just hammered the last nail in the coffin...
buh bye.

And they can vote in the 5th district. College students can now register in the location in which they attend school. No roots, no consequence of their vote. Just feeelings, whoa whoa whoa, feeeelings!! They elected Little Tommy last go around.

Of course, the Liberty University students vote GOP (heh heh).
