Here's an eye-popping poll from SurveyUSA that shows Republican challenger Scott Bruun with a 10-point lead over Democratic Rep. Kurt Schrader in Oregon's 5th Congressional District.
The survey, conducted for KATU TV, says Bruun is ahead 51 percent to 41 percent in a poll conducted Oct. 17-19. That even exceeds an internal survey for the Bruun campaign showing him with a four-point lead.
There's no doubt that Schrader is in real trouble. My only caveat is that I wonder about SurveyUSA's estimate of who will turn out in the election. The latest voter registration figures I've seen by congressional district - from September - shows Democrats with a five-point registration edge, 40.1 percent to 35.4 percent for Republicans.
Yet the SurveyUSA poll estimated turnout this way: 44 percent Republican, 37 percent Democrat and 18 percent other. Even though Republican turnout is likely to be higher than Democrats this year, that doesn't seem right to me.
Still, this ought to put a bigger spotlight on the race - just in time for tonight's big debate between Schrader and Bruun sponsored by The Oregonian and KGW. It will be carried live on KGW at 7 p.m. and yours truly will be one of the questioners.
One further point. The 5th District has long been seen as Oregon's biggest swing district, in part because voters there are seen as more conservative than the other two congressional districts that touch on the Portland area.

I hope that Oregon Freepers and conservatives are active in the Salem area. This is a must pick-up.
What’s the latest on Defazio / Robinson?
I wonder how much the Oregon democrat party has picked up from the Wash state party on the advanced practice of VOTER and ELECTION FRAUD??!!
Ha ha! All of the DCCC attack ads about Bruun “giving your SSI to Wall Street” must be backfiring. I knew it was bad when I just saw a sappy ad from Schrader where he tries to depict himself as “jus’ folks”.
I haven’t heard any polls on Defazio/Robinson. Robinson is going all out & getting some outside help from Concerned Taxpayers of America. They did a great job taking one of Defazio’s ads & turning it on him. So far I haven’t seen it posted on the internet. They should have put it on youtube, as I’d love to send it others, including posting it on FR!
Can you imagine OR not an ultra leftist hellhole??
It didn’t used to be one.
Here in JoCo I see literally tons of Robinson signs and very few DeFazio.
I listened in to a call with Huffman the other evening, they didn’t get to my question though. :-( It was about Sen. DeMint’s proposal to trim fed agencies like the Dept. Of Education.
Huffman is for civil unions and he seems to be a sort of RINO on social issues but whatever he is he will be better than Wyden.
Oregon used to have Republican controlled legislature before the leftist Secretary of State gerrymandered all the voting districts.
I was hugely impressed by Robinson’s glorious takedown of Mr. Rachel Maddow.
Go Bruun!!! (and GO DUCKS!!!)
Do you think that Huffman has a chance? We hear nothing of him over here in Klamath County. I was hoping that was a strategic thing as this county is strongly conservative - well compared to the bulk of Oregon.
I really don’t know. I’ve gotten an ad or two in the mail, plus a Dem/hate Huffman ad. I was called for a conference call, I guess because I’m a registered Repub. He needs every single vote he can possibly get. I’d love it if Wyden got the pink slip. And DeFazio. They need to freaking retire by force.
I’m in Clackamas County, should have I received my ballots yet?
I have no idea, as I don’t live in Oregon.
Call your county Clerk and ask.
KV and I have been having fun with the phone pollsters.
They call for him and when they relize that he has to use augmentative communication they want to back out.
Nope, we tell them that would be discrimination against the physically disabled.
The only one that put up a fit was from OPB/Oregonian and I believe KATU was the other company behind that one.
We went out for a dinner social at the local Casino and got out the ballots to vote.
Amazing the aquaintances that stopped to chat and were encourage (we hope) to vote, and KV was not shy in sharing who/why he was voting for.
Our Ballots were put in the drop box at the County Courthouse @ 3am this morning on our way home. : )
Vote early!
If you’re not on the OR message list, I just got this, un-freaking-believable the low down dirty tricks and beyond insane dishonesty that leftists pull.
New Message on Oregon

Just got this message from Art Robinsons campaign:
Dear Friends,
We have been postponing writing to everyone about the events at the Roseburg forum because we wanted comments from the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce. Since, however, they have so far refused to talk with us, we are writing anyway.
What actually happened was an outrage and absolutely unbelievable. You can watch the forum itself at www.ArtRobinsonForCongress.com. It is on the front page, just scroll down a little bit.
DeFazio and the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce refused to allow about 300 people into the room. They would not allow people sitting in the extra space we rented, paid for, and provided to the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce for their use to either watch the forum or listen to it - when either one could have been done trivially. (By turning an audio switch to listen or opening a movable partition to observe. They also refused all attempts to enter the room itself.) About 300 people viewed the forum and about 300 were excluded.
In the days before the forum started, a newspaper and radio campaign was run by DeFazio and the Chamber telling people not to come because the lunch tickets were sold out - even though plenty of room without lunches was available. The Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce in agreement with DeFazio waged this campaign without even calling us to tell us what was going on.
All six of Arts children (including me as Campaign Manager), and 300 of our supporters, volunteers, and other people who wanted to watch (including some Democrats) sat on the other side of an easily movable partition, within a few feet of the candidates - but unable to see or hear what was happening.
The Police were called by DeFazio and the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce long before the forum even started and told we were going to disrupt the meeting (although no disturbance of any kind was planned or occurred). Four officers patrolled the doors to make sure nobody could enter the section where the forum was held - even though there was room for hundreds of extra people even in that section (the police were very nice and we are not at all unhappy with them, it was the false reports to them that we feel were wrong).
Besides making requests before the forum started, my Dad (Art Robinson) repeatedly publicly asked DeFazio during the forum to Tear down this wall (paraphrasing Ronald Reagan and meaning move the partition so everyone could see the forum) or at the very least allow sound to play in the other room (which could have be done easily with the flip of a switch). DeFazio stared straight ahead during these requests and would not even acknowledge them.
There was obviously an arrangement made with DeFazio giving him control of who could see the forum and who could not. He preferred that only those who knew about and could afford to purchase $20 tickets in advance be allowed in. This is confirmed by DeFazios actions during the forum and also one of our supporters was told by an official of the Roseburg Chamber of Commerce afterward that DeFazio was in charge of the room.
I have been trying to get clarification from the Chamber on what arrangements were actually made all week. They referred everything to the President & CEO Debbie Fromdahl. I left her repeated messages and was told several times by her staff to call back at certain times. She never was available to me even at those times.
On Thursday Debbie Fromdahl finally called and told a volunteer here that I had a 5 minute window to call her and discuss everything or else she would be unavailable until Monday. I did call back within a few minutes but she already deemed it past her limit (the story is that she was then in a meeting) and would not talk. The secretary told me to call back between 10:30-3:30 on Monday (Oct. 25th) - but refused to let me schedule a firm appointment. Furthermore a special arrangement was made. Specifically the secretary was told NOT to take messages from me and would (I am not making this up) interrupt and refuse to listen if I tried to give her one. I was invited only to leave messages on her answering machine - which of course I did.
We do want to talk with her and find out what actual arrangements they made with DeFazio - if they will discuss them. I will call on Monday and see if she will talk. Most of the members of the chamber and I am sure most of the leadership are good people, and we never intended to be in an argument with them. Here is the contact information if you want to try yourself.

Why did this happen?
The short answer is that in a public forum in Roseburg without any special arrangements, our supporters would have outnumbered DeFazios by 10:1 - it was 3:1 even in Eugene. This would have shown DeFazio to be unpopular. What actually happened - even though many people did not come because of the advertising campaign telling them not to - shows him to be far worse.
[At the first forum at the City Club in Eugene, lunches also sold out. An additional 450 people, however, came to the event. All of these people were allowed inside to view the forum.]
DeFazio has refused to come to any real debates. Under pressure to debate, however, DeFazio arranged for four forums. These forums provide very little chance for the candidates to interact, and are nothing like a debate, but they are nice events and better than nothing. We were informed of these through the press and later by a letter from DeFazio. We accepted on the condition that they were freely open to the public.
DeFazio has been advertising these events as open to the public for several months. His supporters handed out fliers about them at fairs and at our debates which he would not come to himself. They have been listed on his website. No hint was ever made that the general public would be refused admittance.
Without telling us, the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce sold tickets at $20 each - this is apparently normal for chamber lunches. When we became aware (just a few days before the forum) that tickets were being sold, we concluded this was just for lunches.
None of us ever thought that anything except a shortage of space would actually be used to keep people out. We arranged and paid for plenty of extra space, so we knew this problem was solved.
This was more than a luncheon and forum. This was the ONLY event of its kind that DeFazio was willing to participate in all of Douglas County.
DeFazio has been hiding from the voters during the entire election campaign. His appearances have been very minimal. This is just more of the same, but designed to keep away those who could not afford $20 or did not know they had to pay well in advance before tickets were sold out.
Best Regards,
Noah Robinson
P.S. Please forward this message to your friends. It is important that the people of Oregon know what happened.
thank you.
This De Fazio thing makes me sick. Why would the Chamber be in collusion with him? I live in Portland and it is so bad here, but I thought cities (other than Eugene) were more conservative, leaning to the Republican or Independent party. I would like to see this brought to the attention of the national committees and organizations and the Fox News people. De Fazio is a weasel and always has been.
