NPR has terminated its contract with Juan Williams, one of its senior news analysts, after he made comments about Muslims on the Fox News Channel. NPR said in a statement that it gave Mr. Williams notice of his termination on Wednesday night. The move came after Mr. Williams, who is also a Fox News political analyst, appeared on the The OReilly Factor on Monday. On the show, the host, Bill OReilly, asked him to respond to the notion that the United States was facing a Muslim dilemma. Mr. OReilly said, The cold truth is that in the world today jihad, aided and abetted by some Muslim nations, is the biggest threat on the planet.
Mr. Williams said he concurred with Mr. OReilly.
He continued: I mean, look, Bill, Im not a bigot. You know the kind of books Ive written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.
Mr. Williams also made reference to the Pakistani immigrant who pleaded guilty this month to trying to plant a car bomb in Times Square. He said the war with Muslims, Americas war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I dont think theres any way to get away from these facts, Mr. Williams said.
NPR said in its statement that the remarks were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR.
The public radio organization said it thanked him for many years of service. Mr. Williams did not immediately respond on Wednesday night to an e-mail seeking comment...

He must be doing something right! Go, Juan.
Really objective journalism at NPR.
Good thing we help support it with taxpayer dollars.
Juan tells the truth, and NPR give him the boot. He’s better off now.
Whoa. Hasn’t Williams been with NPR for, like, forever??
If he’d made the remark about Christians, he would’ve gotten a promotion. It makes me feel a bit sorry for him.
Call someone who C.A.I.R.S - N.P.R!
Sure looks that way. I think they don’t want people to know how bad things are and he pointed it out. They don’t like hearing the truth.
Liberals are sooooooooo tolerant of diverse viewpoints.
/s
Good to know my tax dollars fund PC intolerance.
IMHO NPR needs to go. I bet if Juan had said something like that about Catholics or Mormons he would still have a job.
I want my NPR tax money back
Censorship is unamerican, thus, NPR is unamerican.
The GOP congress needs to end NPR funding next session.
The last thing scumbag tax-sucking NPR wants is somebody telling the truth.
That does not fit in with their agenda.
Juan just got mugged by his buddies @ NPR. lol
Let’s see if he wises up some....
I’m not holding my breath.
Juan is right. It also proves that NPR must now be defunded as it is an organ for political correctness and not a respector of the freedom of speech. I think we may have a new convert to conservatism.
Only at NPR could his credibility be undermined by speaking the truth.
Big Bill will have a good time with this with this . Hey you censors at NPR , get ready for some heat .
