WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama met with activist-actor George Clooney at the White House on Tuesday to discuss U.S. involvement in Sudan ahead of a critical election early next year in Africa's largest nation.
Clooney recently returned from Sudan, and is asking the U.S. and world community to use international pressure and robust diplomacy to prevent violence ahead of the Jan. 9 election. The election is an independence referendum on south Sudan that is likely to split the country in two, and there are fears that the vote could lead to a new outbreak of north-south civil war.<>

Right now, I want to have MY problems solved right now and worry about MY countrys problems. Neither myself or fellow Americans have the energy to worry about Africa, which is ALWAYS falling to pieces, one way or another.
I wonder if it’s Clooney that is causing the Obama marital problems. What a perfect way for Clooney to sleep his way into politics, going right for Obama himself!
Bierbers=Bieber
I know who you’re talking about.
“I wonder if its Clooney that is causing the Obama marital problems”.
...Clooney had better stock up on paper bags if there is any “extracurricular” activity.
George,
Sudan is ruled by a genocidal muslim who has been free to butcher the Chrisitan minority in the South with little interference other that the occasional whine from people like you. Their President is a close friend and ally of Kenya’s Prime Minister Odinga. Does the name ring a bell, George? Look it up then ask yourself if Obama is really going to help you in Sudan. Retard.
That would explain how entertainers are able to get audiences with the President. Notice though, that with Clinton it was all women and with Obama it’s Hollywood’s hottest male heartthrobs.
Clooney, like all entertainers, doesn’t think or make connections. It’s not what they are paid to do.
Ego-wise, this must have been Clash of the Titans.
I’m with you on this one. We are not the protectors of the world and I don’t care about Africa. Countries need to stand up for themselves. We are stuck in two wars now and anyone that gets us involved in another one, no matter how minor, should be impeached. The key now is to bring our country back to what it was meant to be. We’ve already invested money in Kenya, even though it is said that it was done illegally. We can’t support the whole world or even half of it.
Yes. At this point, I’m in Kim du Toit mode. “Let Africa sink itself.”
Thanks for being so understanding. Africa has had one problem after another and I am disgusted that we aren’t supposed to deal with real terrorist regimes, but are supposed to send our troops to deal with the latest trendy celebrity cause. I don’t think our troops are supposed to be send where they might actually get killed and then cannibalized and I don’t understand WHY Africa is supposed to be helped when (I don’t think you know this) that Poland actually repaid the loan that the US sent them. Africa hasn’t been paying back it’s loans and I for one do not want our troops sent in. They and our military families have enough burdens right now.
By all rights, Africa should be a major superpower in it’s own right, with its limitless resources and fertile soil. They should be the ones exporting to us! If there is civil war, let it happen. It happened in the US and no one came to help either side.
No doubt.
Charity begins at home. Let’s stop voter fraud and intimidation in this country first
And direct all those billions to our students, military, and infrastructure. We can’t help others until we help ourselves.
Clooney plays for the other team. I think we are pretty sure Obama does as well or is a switch hitter.
Clooney’s plan will be to bring millions to America. I yelled at the TV when dumb Poppy Bush, thanks to liberal TV news, decided to go to Somalia. I knew where that nightmare would lead.
And direct all those billions to our students, military, and infrastructure.
