Viacom networks MTV, BET and CMT are giving an hour of free air time to President Obama less than three weeks before the midterm elections.

The so-called “A Conversation with President Obama” will be live and commercial-free on six Viacom networks at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The networks will not give equal time to a Republican before the election, according to a spokeswoman.

MTV denies that the Obama hour of TV is political, despite the timing, weeks before the midterm elections.

Viacom issued a CASTING CALL for actors and actresses to portray members of a fake “Town Hall” for this giant free democrat party campaign ad.

Is MTV trying to “Rock The vote” again?

This time around it has to be “Rap The Vote.”

Please stop it Mike Nesmith.

Yep I beleive that is the one.Recruiting actors, probably writting the questions, why they call it a townhall rather than the Obama show...who knows? He must be worried that since unemployemnt in that age group is upwards of 35% that someone just might ask something he can’t answer.

The “FCC” has NO control over Fox News! They are cable NOT Broadcast.

But by the same logic they want to use on the Internet they could...

The cable and phone lines going in to your house (the last mile) is controlled by government..the government decides who will have access to feed content over those lines..

So if then can decide what is "fair access" of the Internet on that cable in to your house...

They can sure try and say want is "fair access" of video (cable TV) over that same cable in to your house

To control any electronic communication... you just need control of one point in the end to end path (the pipe)...

In "over the air" it the over the air broadcast frequency...

In non over the air, (a wire)... it that "last mile" access/easement in to your location

MTV is a joke... I guess they are going to worship Obama before the election and blame the Republicans on all their failures even though the Democrats had a super majority in the House of Representatives, the Senate and the White House.

Yes, it's unfair, but Obama's hour will have a negligible effect on the election and whatever effect there is will probably harm the Democrats. It's 2010, not 2008, and the spectacle of Obama droning on doesn't enthrall anyone anymore.

And for that matter, Republicans are probably better served by not getting equal time. Some bore like McConnell or Boehner on TV for an hour would likely do more harm than good.

Bingo. And in complete fairness he is the President, like it or not. They never stopped prime time shows when I was a kid for speeches by Senators or Governors. And let's be honest: two weeks before an election or two weeks before Ground Hog Day FReepers are still going to bitch about Obama getting air time, even on third rate hack channels that almost no one here watches.

I say let Obama talk all he wants. Karl Rove said this morning that since last Thursday when the Obama Administration first brought up “illegal foreign donations”, his organizations have raised more than $13M. Let Obama talk. The more he talks the more money the Republicans raise. Thanks ViaCom, for helping the Republicans right before the election.

The good news is, you can block those channels from being viewed. The bad news is, you still have to indirectly support them with your $’s.

Twenty minute evasive non-answers to straight up yes/no questions. Blah, blah, talking points, blah, blah. Does anyone at all think it will help the Dems in 2010?

Right - a discussion with the President is NOT political.

Right - MTV, the channel well known for jumping on trendy lefty causes isn’t being biased.

Right - I’m a idiot, just like MTV thinks...

We’re not giving an hour of free time to the president to freely express his views. We’re hosting a town hall with 250 young people to ask questions of the president...

This is as moronic as anything Joe Biden has ever said - and that's saying something! How does this imbecile think Obama will respond to those questions?

BY EXPRESSING HIS VIEWS (intermingled with a bunch of umms and uhhhs and let me be clears)

Media Schadenfreude

The Federal Election Committee laws are a bald faced joke. Disband this corrupt group, they don’t prosecute Rat Crimes of voter intimidation, illegal foreign contributions, illegal use of churches for politicking on Sundays before election day, fraudulent voter registration, and voter intimidation.
