Notice they are suing local taxpayers who may not be guilty, the guilty will not be punished or anything.

I know many here claim not to watch TV. BUT, has anyone watch this past season of Big Brother, the on going season of Survivor. This is especially bad. One woman has a prosthesis, and is being brutally harrassed by another contestant. The numerous shows that protray Bullying as “just clean fun” or “part of the game” is rather disgusting.
Does anyone find that maybe just maybe these young people are watching these shows and getting the idea that bullying is perfectly acceptable. What kind of Producers do these shows hire that stand by while this bullying goes on?
Both of the above mentioned shows dangle money, and no way out other than to quit.
The entertainment community needs to take a close look at some of the fare they are offering, and set limits on the behavour of the participants.
Even Amazing Race is getting hard to watch, the abuse leveled at the partners in the race would be unacceptable in society. (”what would you do?, with John Quinnones, I guess proves that there are some in our society that accept this bullying.)

Remember a few years ago when there was a rash of shark attacks? Turns out that there were no more attacks than in normal years, the media were just making a big deal out of it.

I suspect that bullying has been going on forever, and kids have responded poorly to the bullying forever, but the the media simply have an agenda to push.

These are sad anecdotes, but I doubt there’s a “trend” that needs to be urgently addressed.

We’ve gone from Columbine to Boston and now this.

The schools choose to ignore issues of honor and integrity while focused on their political agenda rather than the students.

Horrific waste of young lives with seemingly no remorse from the bullies or their parents.

"Suzana Vidovic found her sister's body hanging over the front lawn. The family watched, she said, as the girls who had tormented Sladjana for months walked up to the casket — and laughed

"They were laughing at the way she looked," Suzana says, crying. "Even though she died.""

The more I see of this society,The More I like Heinlein's Idea's a la Starship Troopers

Public whipping of these creatures has some very good merits

I would be willing to bet that if school prayer were still allowed, things wouldn’t be as bad at that school.

I’d also like to know what kind of brainwashing is done there. Thomas Sowell pointed out, and published, the fact that before the shooting, Columbine made a habit of taking kids to a morgue to view bodies as part of “death education” curriculum.

...and it goes on and on.

I'm glad I wasn't there. Otherwise, I would have been charged with multiple murders.

There is a great organization started by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul, and Mary. It’s called Operation Respect. He sang a song “Don’t Laugh at Me” about bullying. It seems to be a positive organization. We saw Peter last night at the Woodsong Old Fashion Radio Hour. It was a good time, and he was great.

We had bullies, particularly in Junior High.

I think the general impression most of the rest of us developed was that a bully was being a bully to “get attention”. They were neither the brightest, the most sociable nor the most athletic. Over time, shunning them and ignoring them isolated them and kept the situations where they could express their bullying to very few occurrences. As we all got older - into High School - they simply became loners or had their own little group of misfits they socialized with. A couple were sent to “reform” school and never returned.

A think a good start would be to re-institute reform schools. I think the sad truth is that not all kids can be taught to behave in "polite society" and the other kids deserve to NOT have their lives and educations disrupted by incorrigibles.

the other day my son, who is a senior heard about a kid in his school who was getting tortured by bullies and had his entire school life. he found out who the kid was, grabbed a couple of his football defensive line buddies and let the bullies know they would not be picking on this kid anymore or they’d have a problem with the football team!
