Our former NR colleague, Joe Sobran, passed away today after a long battle with a variety of ailments. He was relatively young, just 64, and while physically beaten at the end, he also departed spiritually triumphant.
Surely, in short order, there will be ample reflection — much of it critical — on the hyper-talented, hyper-controversial writer. There will be a recounting of his history at NR, the break, the following years, and Joe’s soured relationship with WFB (happily, they rekindled their friendship before Bill passed away). Good, let’s discuss all that, and more. But later. Right now, let us, if only for a minute, pray for the repose of his soul, to hope: That he abides now with his old boss, and they together with our Creator. For the peace that proved so elusive in this lifetime, Joe, may you now have it.

You read the Gospel of John...especially Chapter 8..Jesus calls collectively “the Jews” (that is the ones who rejected him) “children of the Devil,” and says their reliance on pedigree with Abraham is meaningless and their revolutionary approach is misguided....
E. Michael Jones writes extensively about this...Christ is the dividing point in History.

Besides being accused by William Buckley of being an anti-Semite and being fired from NR, he also argued that the 9/11 attacks were a result of the U.S. government's policies regarding the Middle East. He claimed those policies were formed by the Jewish-Zionist powers that rule in the United States .
He was a vile, crooked paleo who went nuts somewhere along the line. God have mercy.
He gave the single best explanation of the workings of the left I have ever seen...the hive.
I just read it. Wow. An outstanding analysis. He sure has a way with words. I doubt even Buckley could do as good. Losing him is a great loss.

All young FReepers should read this. It is quintessential Sobran, and it so clearly portrays the Obama Regime.
IMO, Sobran jumped the shark about 20 years ago. Prior to that I enjoyed his work, especially in National Review. After that, not so much.
I think he has who Christ spoke to incomplete...it was the Jewish leadership...the religious leaders...the same could be said of many religious leaders thru the centuries even til today. They demand their memberships to do what they themsleves do not....and yes there are men and now woman in the pulpits who could easily be said are :children of the deveil”...so what’s that guys beef really?
He was one of my favorite political authors. Huge loss. RIP.
