Ex Whitman Housekeeper: 'Undocumented' (Illegal Nannygate) *Video*
KFIAM640 ^ | 9/29/2010

A former housekeeper for Meg Whitman was "emotionally and financially abused'' during her nine years of employment, an attorney alleged today, adding that the Republican gubernatorial candidate knew the woman was an illegal immigrant.

"In short it was a nightmare,'' said attorney Gloria Allred, who said Nikki Diaz Santillan worked as a housekeeper for Whitman for nine years before she was fired last year.

Allred said that during the woman's years of employment, Whitman caused her "to feel exploited, disrespected, humiliated and emotionally and financially abused.''

"The relationship was terminated last year by Ms. Whitman for what appeared to be political reasons involving Ms. Whitman's decision to run for governor,'' Allred said.

Allred contended that Whitman knew her client was an illegal immigrant, but kept her employed until she decided to run for governor.

Tom Hiltachk, Whitman's attorney, denied the allegation.

"This person was initially hired by Meg Whitman in November 2000,'' Hiltachk said in remarks reported on the Los Angeles Times website. "She filled out standard (Internal Revenue Service) forms and Department of Justice forms and presented her Social Security card and California driver's license. She filled out immigration forms that stated under penalty of perjury that she was a lawful resident.''

Hiltachk said the woman admitted in June 2009 that she was not a legal resident.

"She was immediately suspended and terminated on June 29, 2009,'' he said.

Whitman spokeswoman Andrea Jones Rivera said Allred's news conference was politically motivated. She called Allred "a shameful manipulator'' who is a supporter of Jerry Brown -- Whitman's Democratic opponent in the hotly contested governor's race.

"With the polls tied, it comes as no surprise that the morning after a successful debate for Meg that the sleaze machine of the political left is now focused on the politics of personal destruction.''

A Social Security Number and a Valid Driver's License that matches the name on the S.S. Card meets the Employer's I-9 reporting requirement.

The woman is an Illegal Alien, committed willful Perjury and is guilty or Identity Theft. But she's the “victim”.

I just watched the video. This is reminding me of the Duke La Cross team case.

Bingo. She hired her through an employment agency. She paid her wages. She withheld all taxes including FICA. She had — from the employment agency — so-called proof the woman was a legal citizen complete with CA DL, green card, Social Security number, etc. Law in CA prohibited her from digging any deeper into the woman than that. I’m actually pretty darned impressed with Whitman over this, including that fact she paid the woman very, very well.

There is a video?

I really want to look at that watch on her left hand. If it’s what I think it is, I am going to plaster it all over the Internet.

Is reading comprehension dead on FR or are some of you being willfully obtuse.

Whitman hired the woman through an employment agency and paid her $23 an hour. Whitman filed W-2 forms and withheld employment taxes.

If she was hired through an employment agency, I don't think Whitman would fill out a W2. Rather I think Whitman would only be required to fill out a 1099 form.

BTW, has anyone notice, not a single word about the name of the employment agency?

What does that have to do with it? Whitman has the documents to back up her statements, they are posted at TMZ.

She employed her to work for her through an employment agency, the woman worked exclusively for her as an employee, not an independent contractor.

Let’s think about that. What’s the net result of this?

1. Whitman wasn’t going to be picking up much of the Illegal Alien vote to start with.

2. I read the story in sympathy to Meg. She did everything right and even paid a very good salary of $23.

3. The story comes from a woman who seems like a Telemundo Soap Opera Star.

4. The woman’s attorney is a known Brown supporter and money grubber.

Though the MSM has written many misleading headlines the story looks to be dying.

Keep us posted as you know I am not blessed to live in LA.

The ususal Hispanic scam ......the illegal latina lied about her status, Meg hired her from an agency and paid her $23 per hour (BASED ON HER STATUS); the latina lied and lied and lied; she stayed w/ Meg nine years before she was fired (after Whitman found out she was illegal)..........

I was nauseated watching the news clip of Allred and the illegal. The latina faked crying, as another self-anointed “victim.”

Looks like another latino scam is in the offing---- the latina will sue Meg for “Something”

Allred will dream it up.......for a cut.

Meg is apparently in the clear---b/c she hired the woman from an agency who was legally compelled to vouch for her status.

I was pretty hard on Whitman on another thread, so much so that I am now going back to apologize for not waiting for Meg to respond to the charges. Folks can view that here.

What bothers me at this point is that Whitman supposedly hired this woman through a third party (employment firm). That company developed the document base that they thought made it possible for this woman to work in the United States.

Evidently Whitman paid this agency each month, and did not directly employ the housekeeper herself. This has been mentioned to distance Whitman from the responsibility for the woman’s status.

Now Whitman’s camp is providing documents. So how did she obtain those documents? Those documents are privileged. Your employer can’t make your documents public.

Was Whitman employing this lady directly or not? I don’t believe she was, because she was paying one flat rate, $23.00 per hour, 15 hours per week on a regular basis. That $23.00 per hour evidently included an employment fee for the employment management firm.

How does Whitman obtain those private documents of a person employed by someone else? And how does she justify dumping those documents in public?

Even if those documents are falsified, they are private documents.

If you’re an employer, try dumping your employees documents in public.

I’m no lawyer, but seems to me that Whitman should have been even nastier. She should have notified ICE and had the maid cuffed and frog marched through the front yard.

Of course, she might have indeed notified ICE, and someone at ICE might have played games?

Might surprise you, but probably 70 percent of the legal Hispanic/Mexican population in the U.S. will side with their illegal alien counter parts..
