BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (The Enquirer) -- Someone stole at least 600 pairs of panties Saturday from the Victoria's Secret store in the Lakeview Square Mall, Battle Creek police reported today.

The manager of the store told officers she was in the office and two other employees were helping customers when the theft occurred about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the thief took the panties from 10 drawers in a display near the front of the store. The underwear was valued at $6,000.

This latest theft follows an incident on Oct. 29, 2009, when store officials reported that 80 bras valued at nearly $1,700 were taken from a display in the store.

-
Why is “bra” singular and “panties” plural?
-
Panties are not my favorite thing, but they are right next to it.

$6,000 for panties from retail store drawers?

If I was going to steal Victoria Secret panties I'd want to steal them from a Victory Secret fasion show...Those panties would be priceless.

The WMU Sigma Chi’s got lost on the way to the Chi O house for a pantie raid. At least that’s what probably would have happened back in my day. LOL Do they still do pantie raids?

That’s kind of like asking why “shirt” is singular. I have never heard of someone cutting a “pair of pants” right down the middle and calling each resulting piece a “pant.”
