Conservatives denounce GOP 'Pledge' as sellout, inside job

House Republicans have been relatively successful this week at presenting a united front around their Pledge to America, but only through a strategic outreach campaign to lawmakers, media and outside groups, that has managed to keep deep dissatisfaction over several key issues largely under wraps.
Still, interviews with Republican aides reveal that many in the GOP caucus are unhappy that there was no earmark ban and no promise to pass a balanced budget amendment in the proposal, which was unveiled Thursday by House Minority Leader John Boehner. The inclusion of a health insurance provision considered to be mandate angered many conservative lawmakers.

When the new congress is seated our vigilance will be essential for the survival of the Republic.
Now that is one of the best lines in this entire thread... as long as "The People" stay engaged and don't go back to the sports channel or entertainment tonight, the Republic may yet be pulled from the flames.

No. Don’t be stupid. Only Democrats openly defy the will of their constituents.
If enough constituents tell their Republican congressman how they want them to vote, they will.
If the Tea Parties don’t like who the Republicans make Speaker of the House, they will be replaced in their primaries. The Republicans are starting to get it now.
We’re not going to work our asses off to get the GOP the majority back and then allow them to turn around and screw us again.
We do not have to be hostage to a spineless Republocan leadership.
We don’t have to accept their Washington games regarding “seniority”.
We want effective leadership, not an old boys club.
Too bad you’re already capitulating.
Most of us here won’t, though.

Well, I was being polite. Name-calling and accusing each other of being leftists isn’t exactly arguing.
My point is that these trolls are here to cause dissension and produce rude replies and “post bites” to repeat on the DUmb sites.
But come to think of it, I don’t really care what they think, LOL!

it is not a fair representation of anything whatsoever So you think the author is lying when he says he has interviewed people on the Hill?
I know lots of conservatives who don't like this document. So, I consider it to be very much representative.
House staffers almost never allow themselves to be named as sources, by the way.

AMF, Zot Bait!
"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

The pledge wasnt enough, but its a start.
Here's that the Pledge is: a tool that allows Republicans to say "Yes we do, here it is - go look at it" when confronted by Dems who charge "You are just the Party of No, you have no plan."
That's really all that it is, and no reasonable person should expect it to be anything other than a high-level starting point. And certainly not the end-all/be-all of how the Republicans will govern if they are returned control of the House.
This article strikes me as an attempt to sow division and dissension within the GOP and Conservative Movement at a key point leading into the election. Tick off Conservatives by pointing out all the things that aren't in it in an attempt to demoralize them on the verge of a big win.
There's going to be a LOT more articles like this in the next few weeks, intended to peel Conservatives off of the attempt to retake the House.

Its not just the trolls causing such dissension... McCain, Murkowski, Castle and a host of other RINOs come to mind.

‘Only Democrats openly defy the will of their constituents.

I take it you have not read Edmund Burke’s ‘Speech to the Electors of Bristol’. In it, the founder of conservative thinking explained to his voters that he owed them his judgment more than his obedience, and would not act in accordance with their wishes as expressed by a vote. They asked him to vote one way, he refused, with the speech as his explanation, and the electors defeated his re-election, as was their right.

They had a chance to do something really big and they blew it.
