Approximately 10 minutes into the speech the moderator informs the public not to film. The citizen continues to film, stating it is his First Amendment Right. The camera is smashed into his face. This is clearly seen on the video.
Thank you for your thoughts on the matter. It’s been a great thread and very thought provoking. It’s always good to remember the constitutional aspects to any situation like this and what many of us have said all day long, was that an assault took place. That much is clear.
I hope the guy sues them.
‘press’ creds?
We should start a ‘press creds’ printing press...lol. If it’s good enough for illegal alien ‘social security numbers’ and Obama’s own ‘birth certificate’..it ought to be good enough for anyone to forge a press pass and creds...right?
/sarcasm
NO PRESS CREDENTIAL IS REQUIRED! CBS is the press, you are the press, I am the press.
It looks to me like the name of the guy where it zooms in is McCoy. It is hard to see. If you go to Oregon Sec State page and do a business search there is a business named MSD Inc registered to Charles McCoy...
African American Alliance is registered to Bernard Foster, who is also a publisher and has other interests

Bet Mr Foster gave to the big 0’s campaign?
Excellent digging. One question though. There seems to be some big confusion on what exactly is the ‘African American Alliance’ and some have said on other sites that the homeownership gig is not the same. There seems to be some confusion. I am headed to bed soon, but please let me know if you find anything else out or if I can help in any way. I did some digging earlier today on the flicker accounts of these groups involved. One bit of digging advice....google image files can be goldmines...not for the images..but for the links. Google is censoring text files for the big Zero..but they haven’t time to do it all. Image files are the loophole. (wink)
And the people in Oregon have no brains. Stupid is as stupid does.
>>stating it is his First Amendment Right.
>
>Uh...The freedom to assemble doesn’t mean “freedom to assemble film footage.”
And you can prove that he was not a reporter making a recording of a public event with a general public invitation?
The Oregon State Constitution states:
Art 1, Section 8. Freedom of speech and press. No law shall be passed restraining the free expression of opinion, or restricting the right to speak, write, or print freely on any subject whatever; but every person shall be responsible for the abuse of this right.
Also
Art 1, Section 9. Unreasonable searches or seizures. No law shall violate the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable search, or seizure; and no warrant shall issue but upon probable cause, supported by oath, or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the person or thing to be seized.
The camera was seized (and used to assault the man) or at least attempted to. {IIRC, that action would be called [attempted] theft as it was not conducted by any authority.}
>>The First Amendment:
>>Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
>
>I hope the fellow with the camera reads your comment. He seems to need a refresher.
Oregon has some similar sections in its Constitution:
Art 1, Section 8. Freedom of speech and press. No law shall be passed restraining the free expression of opinion, or restricting the right to speak, write, or print freely on any subject whatever; but every person shall be responsible for the abuse of this right.
Art 1, Section 26. Assemblages of people; instruction of representatives; application to legislature. No law shall be passed restraining any of the inhabitants of the State from assembling together in a peaceable manner to consult for their common good; nor from instructing their Representatives; nor from applying to the Legislature for redress of greviances [sic].
But this illustrates something I’m not really comfortable with: “Incorporation.”
The Constitution’s Bill of Rights, as read, gives a lot of instruction on how the law-enforcement/judicial systems is/are to be conducted [see the 4th & 5th Amendments] a good argument could be made [both ways (for/against), actually] on whether these apply only to the Federal Government. As the 1st Amendment Specifically names Congress, it’s application to the States [via incorporation] should be of no effect. There is however one Amendment that could be said to be “self-incorporating;” because, as it is written in the passive voice, the action is the subject of interest rather than the/any actor: this is the 2nd Amendment.
>>I wish camera guy had simply said, No sir! You have no authority to tell me to stop filming! This is a free country, and I am a free man!
>
>And then the thug says, “Fine,” and follows the camera guy home and says, “You have no authority to tell me to stop filming! This is a free country, and I am a free man!”
At that point you shoot the creep for trespassing and stalking...
Oregon State Constitution, Art 1, Section 27. Right to bear arms; military subordinate to civil power.
The people **shall have the right to bear arms for the defence [sic] of themselves**, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict subordination to the civil power[.]
>Dont hold PUBLIC meetings then.
>
>Maybe we can declare D.C. private property and get rid of those pesky cameras there too?
When public officials say something like “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it” and *DON’T* get tarred-and-feathered then can we say that their meetings/goings-on are public?
Bookmarking video
I’m no good at games especially when it involves fudging the facts. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Very little room for gray. When in doubt, the choice with the most personal difficulty or cost is most likely the right one.
Correct. Which is why the man had a right to film this public meeting, as protected under the Constitution.
>Cameramen, for example, are commonly not allowed in courtrooms or in Congress.
Which I think is to our [the public’s] detriment.
Or would you argue that the founders intended for us to have “secret/restricted” court [or congress] hearings?
They need to put this into an advertisement AGAIST tax-haber.
I live in Oregon. I have a brain. I also don’t start sentences with the word “And”.
One of my older brothers attends a huge mega church here in the NW ‘burbs of Chicago.
They regularly have dems speak there. Clinton has spoken several times, they were given their land by the governor, they are tax exempt, they get half a dozen police cars every weekend to attend to traffic.
It is a full lib church, supposedly Christian, who are pro-abortion, fully pro dem, all I have met are very anti-Catholic, anti-Lutheran, anti-Baptist to the tenth degree. Most are anti-war activists, they claim to be anti-capitalism, but most live in very very upscale homes and drive only the finest of imported cars.
They are an interesting bunch to watch, almost comical, if it weren’t for the fact that they truly are the wealthy Birkenstock crowd who wield a good amount of cash, which can be used to cause damage.
We had a blow-out one Christmas, where my brother and his wife argued that we were basically HATERS because Jesus accepts everyone, gays, those who believe in abortion, etc, and that we were racist rednecks who didn’t understand the message of Jesus at all. Turns out that their pulpit won’t even use the word “sin” because Jesus doesn’t believe in sin, and sin turns people away (according to their beliefs).
So, basically... according to their doctrine... you can do anything you want, and Jesus will love you. Well, anything except be a conservative or believe in an older church, in which case, you are not fit to be considered human.
Needless to say, that Christmas did not end on a very jolly note, and a few relatives were tossed out of our house by my wife. I think we have spoken only a few times since that occurrence. My wife will not tolerate them in the least. She considers churches like that a cult of the democratic, so called progressive party, and she considers them very evil, and evil is not a word she tosses around loosely. She is truly convinced that this mega church is the hand of Satan.
I could ramble on and on about the debates my other brother and I have had about the older brother and his spouses involvement in this Mega Church, but the point is, if it is an arm of the democratic party, then they think preaching from the pulpit is OK. If your church is conservative, then investigations must be in order.

Current Communist Goals
EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Thursday, January 10, 1963
Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.
At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following “Current Communist Goals,” which she identifies as an excerpt from “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen:
[From “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen]
...
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a “religious crutch.”
YouTube has a "book burning" and erases all the comments, and then puts this at the bottom of the screen.
