A baby believed to be less than a day old was discovered in an abandoned dumptruck off Northwood Circle in Whitfield County, authorities said.
Whitfield 911 received the call about 7 p.m. Tuesday, said Rick Swiney, a captain with the Whitfield County Sheriffs Office. The baby was discovered by a neighbor who was close to the truck and heard crying, he said.
The baby was rushed to Hamilton Medical Center, police said. Hospital officials believe the infant, which they listed in stable condition, was less than 12 hours old when it arrived at the hospital.
Investigators are interviewing residents and contacting area hospitals in search for the mother, Swiney said.
Anyone with information can contact the sheriffs office at 706-278-1233.
Why didnt the person just take this wee baby to the nearest hospital ???
Its a miracle the baby is still alive..
I never understand this, can you not, by law, relinquish your baby in every state in the US? I am not familiar with the laws, but I cannot fathom that there is anywhere in this country that a woman is forced to keep a child she does not want, or cannot take care of. And there are so many couples out there who want to adopt infants. So glad this baby was found in time.
An abandoned dumptruck??
How horrible is right.
I didn’t see the race of the baby mentioned in the article. Whitfield County has a large illegal immigrant population working in the carpet industry. I suspect the mom ditched the baby because she was afraid to go the hospital.
Oh, thank God for sparing this child’s life! :*)
He has special plans for this little one, like He does FOR ALL OF US! So tired of the liberals’ and democrats’ ‘culture of death’ concerning these babies! :*(
Please pray for the baby.
I am aware of those, but even before those laws, how difficult was it for mothers to give their babies up for adoption?
I label all these type of incidents as signposts on the devolution of humanity.
Certainly the shredding of our society.
