In a strange departure from Morning Joe's typical spontaneity, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski issued what was clearly a scripted, teleprompted, manifesto this morning. The statement purported to be non-partisan condemnation of "angry voices" and a call, citing a WWII poster, to "keep calm and carry on." But even a cursory analysis reveals that the manifesto's message suits Dem themes to a 'T', and carries clear echoes of a recent partisan speech by Pres. Obama at a political event.
The manifesto amounted to a condemnation of the "angry voices" and the "political extremists" who, claimed Scarborough, "are dominating the airwaves and dominating the national debate." But at this juncture in American political history, the anger is understandably more present on the right. The Dems, after all, control both houses of Congress and the White House, and have used their power to promote a big-government agenda on everything from health care to trillion dollar spending schemes to higher taxes. You're darn right we're angry! In telling us to calm down, Joe and Mika are really seeking to sap the vitality from the political movement that threatens to sweep Dems from office.

You’re darn right we’re angry ping to Today show list.
“calm” and “civil” is what got us to the tipping point of fascism that we’re at now.
“Extremist” is clearly the slander of choice this week.
Good catch Mark.
This had to come over the MSNBC fax early this morning and Joe/Mika did just as ordered. You could tell Joe was reading it from a prompter. Orders were to get this message out to try and calm the ‘people storming the castle’. Will not work. People are ‘mad as hell and not going to take it anymore’.
I also noticed the ‘troublemakers’ were the ‘professional left’ and the ‘far right’. What in hell happened to the ‘far left’?
Oh yeah, they’re in the White House.
Thanks Mark. I DVR this show daily just to go back and check whatever you catch. I’m thankful you watch and report.
Many thanks, Chuck. It really was strange, the way Joe was clearly reading the manifesto off the teleprompter. I won’t say Rahm wrote it, but he’s got to be loving it this morning.
This message will have a huge impact - on all six of MSNBC’s viewers.
Hey, Joe, the only extremists are in our government.
And we don’t need you and the blonde airhead next to you telling us what to think or do.
You think voices are “angry” now, Joey boy...? You ain’t heard nothing, yet....
Funny, that is how I refer to the current White House occupants.
The Tea Party: Last Resort before the shootin’ starts.
An “extreme” viewpoint, by definition, is one only held by a very few individuals; by a small percentage of the population.
The Tea Party has “enthusiasts” and “supporters” numbering in the 30 to 40 percent range.
By definition, not “extreme”.
I never imagined the Tea Party would have such an effect. I went to a gathering concerning the health care legislation about a year and a half ago and there were probably a couple of hundred people there. Very civil. Mostly older people with some middle-aged. My daughter went with me who was 24. It amazes me how the movement has grown. They talk about it on cable every single day. Definitely the most amazing grassroots movement I have ever seen.
Poor Joe, still cannot get over the fact he was fired from WABC radio NYC.
Who is this fool, morning joke? Does anyone listen to his drivel?
Yes! All 6 viewers! The same guys that watch that brilliant Ed Schultz. All 6 will ponder this crap.
Angry? You bet we are.
Joe is circling the drain. Hope he takes the bimbo with him.
When conservatives are about to take power, it’s always the same... extremists, angry voices, far right wing, vocal minority.
Joe has become a valueless lump of flesh. He bows to his puppet masters, and no longer says anything that sounds genuine.
I found it pretty hypocritical that immediately after Joe’s admonishment to both the left and right, MSNBC played an 11 year old clip of O’Donnel talking about witchcraft. Also Mark Halperin made a dig at Dick Morris about his past sexual indiscretions. It is funny how Joe can do this serious speech (kind of reminded me a Keith Olberfurher mock righteousness rant) and then immediately after, he and his crew resort to exactly the same kind of character assasination that he was decrying only moments earlier.
Mika Brzezinski (mooney eyed):
"I so love the way you read our script, Joe. (sigh)"
