Karl Rove, political mastermind for former President Bush, said Sunday that Christine O'Donnell, the Tea Party insurgent who won an upset victory in Delaware for the GOP Senate nomination, "can't simply ignore" the controversy stirred over the disclosure that she "dabbled in witchcraft" and has to find a way to "explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on." "In southern Delaware, where there are a lot of church-going people, they're probably going to want to know what was that all about," Rove said on Fox News Sunday. "And again, she said it on television when she went on the ... the Bill Maher show." Rove was referring to an October 1999 appearance O'Donnell made on Maher's "Politically Incorrect" show where she said," I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven... One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it." O'Donnell had been on Maher's show frequently in the 1990s, and Maher has said he is going to show an O'Donnell clip each week until she agrees to appear again.

Remember the attempts to bring up the Civil Rights Act with Rand Paul?
If Conservates talk about the issues, we will win.
The talking heads and MSM and Democrats all know that, so they want to bring up non-issues.
Stick a fork in him-he’s done!
Nah, I think it’s more of a what Tokyo Rove meant for evil, God will see ends up good.
I do however respect your respect and appreciation for him. I just happen to differ. Like it or not when you have the White House and both houses of Congress the President takes the heat for the outcome. Rove or no Rove the Republican’s record for those years is a disaster. If Rove was so very instrumental in Bush's career I would have hoped he would have been able to persuade the man to stand up to Congress and not let them behave like Democrats. Rove didn't, Bush didn't and the outcome is history.
Sorry, I'll just have to disagree with you, but do so in as an agreeable a manner as possible.
Your points are well taken though. Sadly, getting to the Super Bowl isn't winning the Super Bowl. Rove got Bush to the Big Game, but after that much of it was downhill.
If everyone knows O'Donnell is going to lose then why is it necessary to go on national TV and speak so badly of her? Love ‘em or hate ‘em you've got to admit the Dems stick up for each other, like having a news conference on the White House lawn the day Clinton is impeached and everyone agreeing he's the greatest President ever.
What did Rove gain by badmouthing the person selected by the voters for the nomination? IMHO, he just showed is butt and no one is better off for it.
Thanks!
The US Senate has been known to deal in national issues.
Lot’s of folks talk about clever. How clever were you to try and embarrass me. I am more than enough prepared to defend myself, thank God I have good meals on Sunday and hooligans get a break.
My suggested response:
“I dabbled in witchcraft, but I didn’t inhale.”
My suggested response:
“I dabbled in witchcraft, but I didn’t inhale.”
How was I trying to embarrass you?
Apparently Rove believes that a Tea Party candidate is by definition NOT a mainstream candidate.
Rove: Tea Party equals Fringe.
Rove is an actual enemy now, not just a prodigal son IMO.
Seems to me that the powers that be are starting to get frightened by the Tea Party. You'll know when we've really hit the big time when they start introducing steadily increasing levels of physical violence against those they percieve as enemies of the state. Trust me, if they ever get to a point where they genuinely think the ruling demopublican oligarchy is threatened, they'll go all banana republic on us. They don't play by rules the average person lives by. They are playing for keeps, as they are nearing one of their end-games.
It was a great weekend here, fairly sunny (though not very much like summer), and quieter than normal.
It was a good change of pace.
How about over in your place? Good?
Private sector tax payers are now the extreme fringe!!!
I'm really, glad this came out so public.
You nailed it. EVERYONE know Rove is an insider and a North Eastern Establishment liberal Country Club Republican. I say, this is not his time and he needs to shut up and sit down ... and he DID throw away the 2006 election...
Rove is savvy but he is not one of us.
If she believes in Christ Jesus, that is a great and proper response.
I haven’t read that. Instead I’ve observed a deflection of a query with an accusation on Karl Rove. I don’t know if she believes in Christ or not, but such a deflection, instead of answering through faith in Him is also consistent with somebody who might be much more degenerate in witchcraft.
Probably isn’t a problem, but the constant avoidance of the issue and coverup by a litany of others doesn’t seem to answer the simple query.
When discussing an issue of faith with many who might not have such faith, then reason is a fair place to communicate for discernment. Letting reason go won’t help communicate to those who don’t discern any problems with remaining aloof to God, let alone attacking Him by condoning witchcraft or Satanism.
30 years ago, nobody in the US thought sexual perversion would be as powerful as it is today. Nobody thought homosexuality would ever influence national legislation. Today, we are daily bombarded by homosexuality and even more perverse agendas.
Witchcraft is even more insidious, as it not only manifests the most degenerate of human thinking, but it also attempts to loose fallen angels into our influence, if not possession, which is far more damaging.
I suspect witchcraft is and has been practiced at higher levels in our government for years, but it hasn’t been overt. I suspect also, that similar to homosexuality, those caught in it’s perverse lair, also soon prefer it become an overt practice, not only legitimized and made equal to belief in God through faith in Christ, but to forwardly attack anything and everything provided by God.
I don’t have anything against either O’Donnell nor Karl Rove. If this is a true tea party movement, then there should be thousands of others equally qualified to be a candidate. I find it absurd for others to attack Rove so heavily, yet not address the question as equally.
I have less trust in those who adopt the Obama standard for prequalification, instead of answering the simple inquiry.
Then address the original query, and let it go. If it is a smear, it will be obvious without further commentary, especially after the question is answered.
Until it is answered, it gives Rove a better reputation and justifies his opposition.
Of course, but they run locally and are tasked with representing their state's constituents. It is the growing trend to view the congress as a national body and not a Republican body that is a big part of the problem.
And just where in the hell was Rove’s attention to questioning his opponents with Bush. It was all new tone BS. There’s something wrong with that boy. He’s done.
I bet she can
