Karl Rove, political mastermind for former President Bush, said Sunday that Christine O'Donnell, the Tea Party insurgent who won an upset victory in Delaware for the GOP Senate nomination, "can't simply ignore" the controversy stirred over the disclosure that she "dabbled in witchcraft" and has to find a way to "explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on." "In southern Delaware, where there are a lot of church-going people, they're probably going to want to know what was that all about," Rove said on Fox News Sunday. "And again, she said it on television when she went on the ... the Bill Maher show." Rove was referring to an October 1999 appearance O'Donnell made on Maher's "Politically Incorrect" show where she said," I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven... One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it." O'Donnell had been on Maher's show frequently in the 1990s, and Maher has said he is going to show an O'Donnell clip each week until she agrees to appear again.

OUTSTANDING thread! Thanks to all posters. Beyond idiocy.
Karl, you have the right to remain silent...
Karl Rove needs to STFU.
Do you mean someone like Arlen Sphincter?
Rove, Romney, Castle,
Karl Rove needs to find another line of work. As far as I am concerned, he’s finished.
He really, really, really doesn’t like O’Donnell, does he?
Just saw Rove on Fox telling Chris not to consider Rubio a “Tea Party” candidate because Rubio is “mainstream.”
Apparently Rove believes that a Tea Party candidate is by definition NOT a mainstream candidate.
Rove: Tea Party equals Fringe.
Rove is an actual enemy now, not just a prodigal son IMO.
The mercy and grace of God is everreaching! In my small-town high school, a kid who was very popular (because he had a great personality) was also the biggest doper one could imagine. He did pot, acid, speed, booze -- you name it. In his senior year, he became Born Again. Clean. I can't even begin to imagine the peer pressure he bucked. I saw it, witnessed it, and I still can't imagine it.
His courage, strength, and faith I am CERTAIN changed many more lives, straightened many more paths, than just his own. He was a beacon. I would rather have as a leader someone who dabbled and overcame -- now THAT is a resume.

____
I missed that.
Rove is getting scary as are the folks at FOX who are giving him airtime.
Seems to me that if a RINO didn’t get selected then the GOP would rather a Democrat to win. No idea why but that is what it looks like to me. She doesn’t have to explain anything she did in high school unless it was a very severe type issue (like murder or something). Other than that, she was a teen. If that is all they found on her she seems pretty squeaky to me. Just a thought
We did get Obama care as result of their votes. Isn't that just great? You stand for something or you fall for anything. As to Scott Brown he is for cap and trade. What is the difference between him and the Democrat?People in MA. voted for something different than a RINO but they they got stuck with one. If you are being screwed does the title of the person doing it Matter?
Conservatives are being played for fools...again.
Wow Rove is really going all out campaigning for Coons.
Rupert Murdoch is not necessarily a conservative. He is just a smart businessman who probably has a lot of interest in maintaining the status quo, even if that means hurtling towards socialism like Europe.
He'll still be around to broadcast the news no matter what...
Rove also said, ironically, that "message beats resume every time."
Christine has the message. She can beat her thin resume and win, especially with her self-proclaimed marxist opponent. Karl doesn't like that.
Give 'em the message, Christine!
Dabbling in a little witchcraft is far less serious than blowing up the levees in New Orleans, Karl.
I agree, great thread and still reading.
When he popped off about O’Donnell the first time election night, I said to my wife, that is not just him making an opinion, it is a vicious attack. Later in the week he fluffed it off with a comment that he is a commentator and analyst now on FOX, not a political operative. I don’t know where he is in telling the complete truth here, but his attack on O’Donnell looked to me to be more political than ANALytical, it was devisive, mean spirited, petty and leaves me with a very unfavorable opinion of him as a person. If I did not know better, I would have thought he was Castle’s illegitimate son.
I am sorry if his big tent, go along to get along politics is not what the country needs or the GOP needs and he is upset about that. Then again, I am not in favor of amnesty either which he and his former boss seemed to favor. Good bye Karl, we hate to see you go, but go you must. Till then, put a sock in it and talk a bit about the whitchcraft (o)bama has been practicing. I did note he made a point of going to church today...perhaps those rumors of his primary affilitations are getting a tad close, so he needs to deflect them. Rove and that other nitwit Kathleen Parker will be quick to drink more of the Kool Aid there too I fear.
He backed Castle, may have contributed to his campaign (monetarily). And is now pissed that he didn’t win. Plus he thinks she can’t beat that scumbag lawyer. Simple as that.
This fight is O’Donnell vs Coons. Rove and Maher need to step off. Wake up folks and don’t let trolls control the message.
Karl Rove is not on our side. It is time for him to declare for the Democrats.
