Karl Rove, political mastermind for former President Bush, said Sunday that Christine O'Donnell, the Tea Party insurgent who won an upset victory in Delaware for the GOP Senate nomination, "can't simply ignore" the controversy stirred over the disclosure that she "dabbled in witchcraft" and has to find a way to "explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on." "In southern Delaware, where there are a lot of church-going people, they're probably going to want to know what was that all about," Rove said on Fox News Sunday. "And again, she said it on television when she went on the ... the Bill Maher show." Rove was referring to an October 1999 appearance O'Donnell made on Maher's "Politically Incorrect" show where she said," I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven... One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it." O'Donnell had been on Maher's show frequently in the 1990s, and Maher has said he is going to show an O'Donnell clip each week until she agrees to appear again.

Then again, I am not in favor of amnesty either which he and his former boss seemed to favor. "See you at the signing." - George W. Bush
Good bye Karl, we hate to see you go, but go you must.
Karl, we hardly knew ye...but now that we do, you repulse us. Go away on that "man without a country" ship, because you're certainly a traitor.

"No, it is not a joke, but I find it interesting that so many people are attacking fellow conservatives when they simply express loyalty to legitimate authority in God and country." Rove's anointed candidate loses and now the one who beat him dances with the devil in the pale moonlight. This a smear if I ever saw one.

The time has come to send a message. Anytime Rove appears on Fox News be sure to switch the channel folks. It’s time to boycott & blacklist Rove.

“Karl needs to come out of the DEMS closet.”
If he tries hard enough maybe he can land a gig on MSNBC.

Rove is wrong, of course. O'Donnell should be ducking all questions, not just those concerning witchcraft.
Isn't that what all "courageous" conservatives do? Duck all interviews except the softball kind? Right?

Duck all interviews except the softball kind? Right? There is no rational reason in the world for the candidate in a regional election to run the gauntlet of national media which can only be a trap and unflattering at best. If she were running for a national position it would be ducking, although the timing is still not necessarily to be set by the media outlets but by the smarter candidate.
Sorry to puncture your balloon but that's the way a smart and ethical campaign is run.

I kinda agree with you. Karl doesn’t realize that by attacking her, he’s in fact insulating her from the Democrats. Anything they say now will be considered old news thanks to his negative contributions.

Karl Rove has done more for ODonnell than the World could imagine. He still has my respect You don't have very high standards.

No, he isn't that clever.
The fact is that he has greatly overestimated his own importance and influence.

I appreciate that you being so much younger than myself have not the long term memory that comes with age. My first election campaign was 1952 when I supported Taft or MacArthur. In 1964, the republicans had a civil war between the leftists (Rockerfeller et al.) that ran the party organization and the traditional rank and file conservatives that gave the party their votes whilst being ignored in all matters of principle. I believe the great majority of supporters of Goldwater had no hope that he would win the election but by winning at the nomination process (the republican convention) they began the march to replace the leftist, socialist lite (what we now call RINOs) party leaders and restore the party to its traditional conservative principles. It took several years but it culminated in the eventual nomination of Ronald Reagan in 1980. These RINOs of 1964 and the national press were unanimous in condemning Goldwater, throwing every kind of imaginable smear at him. They portrayed him as a war monger and fascist. Hateful and of course, untrue. The Rockerfeller, Scranton, Bush (Prescott) type of republicans played the part of Karl Rove, repeating democrat talking points, ad infintum neglecting to point out the abysmal democrat programs and corrupt Lyndon Johnson leadership.
The election was a forgone conclusion but the conservatives worked tirelessly to remove the RINOs and largely succeeded beginning in 1977 after the disaster of the Ford campaign. They remained in control largely during the Reagan Administration when they slowly but surely were replaced by the RINO’s. As with the battle against collectivism it never really seems to end.

He lost the GOP majority in 2006.
Now, even with Castle, we still may not get a GOP majority in the Senate.
And even with Castle, a majority would do the Conservative cause no good since Castle was nothing but a liberal with a 'R' next to his name.
And O'Donnell can win in a GOP year, that has shown great voter turnout.
The Del. primary was expecting 30,000, it got almost twice that.
That shows the GOP is going to do very well in this election in Del.
