Report: National Republican Senatorial Committee Wont Fund Christine ODonnell (Updated)
by Colby Hall | 10:35 pm, September 14th, 2010
Earlier tonight Christine ODonnell was declared the winner of the Republican Senate primary in Delaware over heavy favorite Mike Castle. Since ODonnell was viewed as the Tea Party candidate endorsed by Sarah Palin, with little chance of winning in the general election in November, this race had shaped up as a the GOP establishment versus the Tea Party Republicans. In fact, just last night Charles Krauthammer called a vote for ODonnell as irresponsible. Well according to a recent report, it turns out that the establishment in this case the NRSC wont be funding ODonnells campaign.
The tea party will help. Conservatives will donate. She doesn't necessarily need RNSC money. However, if the race closes, they will inject more cash and buy ads. You can count on that.
I’m pretty sure DeMint’s group supported her...I think he is a senator last i looked.
Next time we receive mail from the ‘NRSC’ asking for contributions send back a message as, “No $$ for RINO’s but have some tea instead”. Include a tea bag in the envelope or just the outer paper label.
>>What do you expect the NRSC to do? Fund a race in DE where the candidate is down by double-digits or pour money into a competitive race in WA, CA, NV, WI or IL?
No brainer or not, the way NRSC is doing it, they won’t see that much money to pour into any race they want to help to have a competitive edge.
Perhaps it’s time that the current NRSC members joined Mssrs Castle and Specter in the political bread line, eh?
You have to wonder about their loyalty and who is calling the shots to make such a ridiculous decision. It also undermines the positive momentum of this win. Kind of like Rove being so negative this evening. What is wrong with these people? Do they want to keep the Obama agenda and let our country continue to crumble?Because they are not on our side.
Good point. NRSC could have said they would review her campaign to determine how they could best help. They did not do this. She had best not count on NRSC money under any circumstances. The plus will be thanking the voters not the NRSC suck ups for her win.
I take exception to you calling me a RINO. There’s a difference between being a RINO and a realist and you darn well know that.
I live in the real world, not some Democratic-inspired fantasyland. The RNSC has finite aka not limitless resources. There are probably 10 or so marginal races that are in play for the Republicans.
Would you rather have money thrown into a campaign where it could make the difference (e.g. a close race like WA or CA or IL or NV) or would you rather throw your money on what appears to be a longshot (O’Donnell is down by 10 points).
What’s the more responsible move for the good of the party there?
If the race in DE tightens (and it may), the RNSC will start pouring money in there. Period. Until then, resources are better directed elsewhere.
Perhaps its time that the current NRSC members joined Mssrs Castle and Specter in the political bread line, eh?This is exactly why they will be sabotaging the GOP nominees.
Since it is money that often throws a race one way or another, you are prejudging the results and affecting them - not placing bets on sure things vs. losses. Quite transparent.

Send a check to O’Donnell and a photocopy of that check to the NRSC address so they know what’s up.
NY could be considered some Democratic-inspired fantasyland - no? (JUST KIDDING!)
Thanks for the contact info. Emailed a rather scathing message to the NRSC.
I think she ought to reject any NRSC money offered - stick it.
Yes they will.
Say WHAT? The election ended five hours ago - and you want TRANSCRIPTS? Can't you look up that on your own?
No she really shouldn’t. She should accept that she won and the GOP had best accept it as well.
